That's a good shot KB. I was thinking there would be a few in motocross action mags from the era.

I got some of my own shots from MXdN in 88 with Leisk on Thorpeys works bike some where , not sure how they would come out after scanning but I give it a try.

Hi Dave , have you asked Jeff direct ? If you need his details I can mail them to you. I am very tempted to come myself in combination of a business trip . more to that when it gets closer . Cheers Walter
Hi walter, i have been in contact with jeff for months now. He is coming to the uk next year for our event and it would be cool for you guys to come see his old stomping grounds and the support he still has from us euro mx fans. We have Dave thorpe and eric geboers to complete the 1989 HRC dream team that finished 1-2-3 in the 500GP season . Believe it or not jeff has no pics from back in the day nor did he have any film of his GP days{he does now} We have a cool 89 CR 500 Leisk replica he has agreed to ride. If you couldent get to europe 20 years ago try now. thanks for the No 18 pic its perfect.

This is the main straight, full throttle ,Ronnie and Jeff were this close or closer lap after lap until Leiskie bobbled a bit and Leichen swooped.Later JMB on his CR125 also passed Jeff who was tiring abit hanging on the the works 500.Strange that the press did not report JMB's come from behind on a 125 ride as much as JohhnyO's 2 years before .It was comparable.(http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab241/motomaniac_photos/img111.jpg)

Leiskie leading and going for it entering the main straight(http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab241/motomaniac_photos/img112.jpg)

You can tell by the length of the shadows and the 250 behind that this is the last moto, second moto for Leisk.Hes not leading this one Leichen went wire to wire. Thats Rob Herring behind , he beat RJ who had crashed on the firstlap and was playing catchup the whole moto .RJ didnt catch the Fish this time.(http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab241/motomaniac_photos/img113.jpg)

Jeff and Ronnie , first moto battle.(I think)(http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab241/motomaniac_photos/img114.jpg)

Thanks Mate and regarding your comment on Leisky- I agree totally. What he did in both the US and EUR against the Baileys,Wards,Johnsons ,Omara's and Thorpe ,Geboers,Jobe ,Nicol has lost none of its awe for me all these years later.
Have you seen the DUKE DVD of the 500's in 89 ??? :o

i have most MXdNs and 80s 500 GPs on DVD if anyone wants them.
motomaniac, i wish i was there in 88, that must have been one hell of a weekend.
I know i have banged on about leisk before but he rarely seems to get a mention on this forum? why? What he did was outstanding, he went from Australia and very nearly cracked the USA and europe when MX was full of legends. He will get a Huge welcome when he arrives at farleigh next year, i have already had eric geboers on the phone telling me he is in training for the event , jeffs reply to that comment was "tell him not to train to hard" . we just want to see dave thorpe ,eric geboers and jeff leisk the 1989 HRC dream team re united once more. If anyone wants to partly sponsor the event and be on all the promotional material please dont hesitate to give me a shout 447767205198 , the photos on the website has recieved 55000 hits since the event in sept so you will get good coverage.
-
Dave , if you need any help with sponsor ship , you know where to knock. That would be a good event for us too.
knock knock ;D 8)

" MX was full of legends" Exactly.I was also there (in Euro) in 1990 hoping to see Leisk ride but he was injured. He gave up too soon., he could have won titles in the early nineties.
I don't know , Im haven't been on this forum for that long.
Yer it was unreal , that was my first time in Europe. If you were at Matterley Basin the atmosphere was like that but with the added mystique of being in the non english speaking world.
