Looking to get a bike for vinduros and the occasional vmx race.

Would the scorpion work for this......??

It will work but not the best choice. Although it run the same (or very similar) frame and running gear, and the motor looks the same but isn't. The engine has smaller transfers and porting which can't be opened up because the barrel studs are too close. Get one of the enduro models which are MX frame, motors etc with different gearing.
