Title: Are pre-85 KDX - KX motors interchangable.
Post by: yz490rules on October 09, 2009, 03:39:50 pm
Hi,

I was wondering how interchangable are the parts between a pre-85 KDX250 and KX250 bikes of the same era?

Thanks,

Stephen

Not very, I think.  From 83 onwards, the KX was watercooled.  Not sure about gearbox parts, but I also doubt they'd be the same.

thanks,

The 84 air cooled kdx looks to be a very similar motor to the 82 kx.

KDX  motor is based on the 82 KX.Gasket sets the same.Same clutch cover except for kick shaft hole is bigger on KDX so match up kickstart mechanism/clutch cover fits straight in.Barrel/head same except ports.
