and heres mine lurking in the background.  ;) Bloody indestructable apart from the flogged out forks which will bottom under braking.

no Aussies can still log on...... I got pinged from logging on using my Japanese laptop.

Hey Paul, if you sold the square barrel you could almost afford the TT600, food for thought.

I loved my TT600. I bought her in '82, flogged her mercilessly for yonks and sold her in 2000, still going strong and only using a tiny bit of oil. During its life I did little to her other than fitting USD Yamaha forks from a derelict YZ125 that vastly improved the suspension despite fouling the tank and fitting a front disc to replace the drum (which is still on one of my Maicos). I always believed that the TT600 was a far better and vastly more reliable bike than the XR600 but was let down by the weight of the engine and underdone suspension (on the early ones anyway).

I was going to rebuild and hot up the engine but the electric start new age 4 strokers were hitting the market so the old girl pretty much became an overnight dinosaur. The bloke I sold it to turned her into a Duex style cafe racer with GSX Suzuki 3 spoke mags and a Manx style tank, looking nothing like the dirt bike she'd started life as. He's still got it I'm told.

Hi Mark,

Yeah I YZ forks and shock for my TT sitting about. Its is drum brake model, I will keep it reasonable stock, just get the forks and shock sorted. Motor is brick shit house, still heap of grunt. Have plans to finish my Harley this year also.

don't know, I never blown a tranny. ;D

I think as pre 85 mount they have been used from time to time and made the occasional Tumper Nats appearance back in the days before it became AllThumper Nats.

I think a well set up one would do pretty well as a fun MX bike. YZ fork springs and shock would give you a decent set up. Engine is probably fast enough standard.
