Tech Talk / comp kit - shed engineers come forth
« on: August 06, 2007, 09:12:19 PM »
Guys - who out there can lend me or make me a comp kit for a TM ? Why you ask, well im at the end of my tether with the TM250 dogging out after idle, yes we have checked god all everything, and although the guy i bought it off's words still ring in my ears" i replaced all seals and bearings" i have a bad feeling he was ;alas full off shite.  I recently came to that conclusion when i was able to tighten down the barrell with a open ended spanner, AKA what about torquing? any hows, id like to test the only freaking think i aint tried - testing, leaks specially the seals 'replaced or otherwise'.

Help needed -->  DOes any one have in there LOAn out draw or you shed engy's be able to knock me up some 10 psi+ holding plates for the exhaust and the inlet manifolds and perhaps braze a car valve in one ?  IM living out of my house at the moment ( being rebuilt) and i dont have the tools or means to make em'  --- anyone able to help me out ? i got a race in 4 weeks and im kinda sick of staring at my navel.  cheers :-*

i got jammed  by 2 differant sellers overseas after 50 emails covering everything they said before i bid, after 4 weeks we were getting nowhere ( avoid the peanut call supermex ?) in the end i said jam it and logged with paypal - he refunded in full withing 4 hours.

second peanut sold me a dud multi meter, turned up not working, dealer pissed me about for 2 weeks in the end loged with paypal on the $14, got a full refund next morning :O)

last time i got bad feedback only 2 in 350 trans, i left not only shit feedback on this prick but responded to the feedback he left me, if you get shit feedback makeshure you respond to it by going into the feedback area as you can leave feedback on there feedback - give you a chance to bag em once more or explain to other why they gave you shit feedback.  if i read the reason there im likely to reread both parties feedback to see who is the dud.  WHATEVER YOU DO LEAVE SHIT FEEDBACK other wise the rest of us get riped too, i hate people who get worried about bad feedback if the seller is a shitter, peple need to start posting it other wise it makes the whole feedback system a JOKE.

Honda / Re: AV GAS
« on: August 02, 2007, 08:49:40 PM »
i was listening to neville lush tell one of the guys at the last race meet he dosnt take too much notice of the colour of plugs too much any more as the unleaded doenst leave the same signs as the old lead petrol, and it seems all the additives in it change the way your plug can look.  Basically if i heard correctly he said it was a quick check to see if it was very lean or very rich other than that dont put your nuts on the colour etc as its moved away from what it used to be.

I used to run what they called bp 100 pumpavgas on my 100cc superlight , the reason i did was because it always seemd to be even, when i say even, every race i would write in my race diary temps etc etc. and every plug chop and jets would always come up the same.  when i used av gas it never seemed to vary much - and thats on such a small high reving, ported motor you would notice every little thing.   After a lot of trial and track time in the end i used a 70 /30 mix i could have been on drugs at the time but for what ever reason i found my little 2 smoker would run fasted and hardest on a a mix of 70% avgas and 30% leaded super - dont ask me why but after years of testing this, race after race on the road circuit i swear it was fact, any time i didnt mix it the same way it would run less or feel less i have a agricultural 5lt measuring jug that i would get it to the mm3 same with the oil premix.   Currently in MX bikes i run pulp @ 32:1 oil, but i have never taken much notice, with all the bumps and dirty filters etc it would be near impossible to rule out all the variables to exact the fuel now as i did in the late 90's.  But im guessing the rule of thumb would still stand,
1. buy the same fuel every time
2. from the busiest server you can find and always only buy it from there
3. use a funel with a strainer
4. and run a plastic car fuel filter in line.

other than that jet the thing to an inch of its life on the pilot and get the main rich enough for the main straights. if its still crappy start looking at your cdi or something poxy like that cause it aint the fuel then.

For Sale / XT 500 for sale - $3000
« on: August 02, 2007, 02:38:40 PM »
XT500 for sale. this chap asked if i could post it here for him.

attached some recent photos; can send more detailed ones if necessary. The
bike is in excellent cond, has been ridden regularly on road,is currently not
registered but I will register if necessary for sale.

Has both gauges but only tacho works, gauges recond by Guageworks so I think its only the drive on the hub which is at fault.Dont know what else to say ,but its genuinely a good bike.
Mileage is not really relevant as it had a rebuld by the previous owner and
he didn't have a speedo on it.My phone no is 0419818010 and my name is Peter
Acton and I live at Lobethal.  Hope to hear from you soon,

na if tyhe frame and motor is pre 75 your in, same classes as MX so you can do pre 85 etc also.

Bail the front gaurd, grab an old 18 front with a disk,( lose the disk) get some old &$ rd,tx style bars and you have an instant Flat tracker !

Modern dont have the same problems with frame design so all you do to them is lower the suspension and stick on a trials or speedway tyre on the rear and boom shanka your away !   less stresss on you back and bike on the flat also :O)

Well freakshow , you can have 150 Dollar OEM shocks , in any colour , springrate ,lenght  you like , but we need a big order. Making 1 pair or making or making 1000 per order is a big cost difference .
( there is no packaging , no spanners , no instruction manual , no warranty registration, no set up time , no hard anodizing, no chrom silicon springs, only freight and invoicing by pallet)
I hope that explains the cost difference. regards Walter
HEy you wanted feedback , so i gave it.

until you can hit that magic number like the rest of the guys i know ill continue to rebuilt old shocks and buy ex demo units out the states.  Oil Shockers are shockers down this end of the market, unless your racing for sheep stations and you and i know the mark up the industry puts on your shocks, its up to you to figure out if you want volume or profit.

Dont shoot the messenger, IF you dont like opinions dont ask for marketing help. if i wanted name brand nike runners i would pay the extra, reality is on the inside there essentially all the same whether they come from the states, china or thailand, price should still be under $150 a pair anything else is Profittering IMHO

Shop 2 (big tyre seller): No, we won't ever sell second hand tyres.

NO i dont want to buy em - i want to help you get rid  of them. just grab them from out the back.  when you next driving interstate then pull up at any bike shop and grab a handfull, theyll  have then stacked up for collection out the back , unless the local kids like to set fire to them.  Id give to you 10 sets tomorrow but how would you get them to you ?

rule number 1 - fully rebuildable
rule number 2 - realistically priced ( i still cant fathom the price differance between car and bike0 you guys must be having a lend of us oil filled shocks are nearly the same as they have always been so cost of production tooling and R and D has been well and trully paid out.  Fix the price at $150 for a decent adjustable 13 incher and youll double you market placement over night.

Colour and style not important make the bodies black and people can paint the springs if they feel the need for sexy.
