Classic Dirt Track Images.

Okay guy's I'm on a personal crusade here.
I'm in search of any photo's, or even better still video of Classic Dirt Track, mainly in NSW but the riders I'm looking for also crossed borders.
Time frame is from the 1960's to about 1980.
The riders I'm looking for are, Bill MacDonald and Carl Askew.
Anyone who has photo's from around this time please check, even if they are in the background, I'll be interested.
The racing numbers used were, 2, 22 & 26.
Obviously I'm prepared to cover any cost's but you're help will be appreciated.

You're a legend KB, those are all great shots and bring back a heap of good memories.
No 2 in the second action shot is Len Norris I think, I'm sure one of the Griffith Mafioso will correct me, Carl was in England at that time and dad let the number go.
The shot of the start is at Amaroo Park and that's Carl in the full face helmet and good o'l TH is in there as well.
The one with TH chasing Carl, it looks like TH has an inner tube on his left foot.
Interesting how not many riders wore gloves in those days, I know Billy didn't until towards the end of his career.
Another shot there of Scaysie around the outside of Lenny Searle.
Speaking of Jim, I'm sure he'd have a few stashed away.

I have no idea who 14 is but I'm sure we'll find out.
Just a few more observations, it's interesting to see how Billy's style changed after a trip to the Old Dart, early photo's were pretty much bum on seat leg trailing, and the shot with the elder Wiggy, shows more of a Speedway style and along the same lines, the shot of Carl shows a heel on his left boot and no steel shoe.
The other good one is Billy on a Bully at the right hander at Amaroo chasing a young Kevin Patton, still wearing what looks like a "Puddin Basin".

I have a nagging feeling it may be John Langfield on #14. Great to see the emergence of these pics, the old Bill Meyer/Bill Forsyth stuff captured a great era when blokes were TOUGH ! No gloves, no Jofas, just gobbling dirt.... :o

I think you're probably right GD, the style definitely looks like Langy, there is a bit of history there involving him & Billy. I'm pretty sure that Billy is riding his Elstar Cole, which he still has by the way and is planning to restore in the near future. He swears he won't ride it himself but maybe his Grandson will one day as he is pretty handy on a bike himself, already a multiple National Champion.

How smooth & relaxed did KD 297 make it look, and Pummo 695 Terry Poole was always near the front.
And no 149 chasing his mentor Fraze, is the late Dougie Platts, he was a real hard charger.
I'll struggle to get to sleep tonight.

Funny you should mention Billy's Toweling hat, because I know the story behind it.
Billy rode my fathers bikes, the original Curly, up until about 1970 when brother Carl was old enough.
Billy won his first National title at St Kilda STH AU in 1971.
The track was next to a tip and as Billy was on the podium collecting the Duke of Edinburgh Trophy, do they still exist?, Curly placed a toilet seat from the tip around his neck.
Apparently the seat perpetuated for several years, I wonder if it still exists?
In the celebrations that followed, Dad pulled Billy's hat over his head and I remember him wearing it, as a badge of honour, for several years afterwards.
 I don't know about everyone else but I'm enjoying it.

I'm enjoying these old shots too. I rode a bit of short circuit in the late 70's and remember a few of the names here.
It was always interesting battling with a slider on a motocross bike with the totally different lines!
