Testing yz465 ignition system who to send to?

Hi is there anyone who can bench test a complete ignition system,I thought there was someone in SA but have forgoten who that was. A mate has a yz465 which is fitted with a vape system internal rotor flywheel and he would like test the orignal system if good wants to run external flywheel and parts as a standard system.

I've had work done by Steve at Better Bikes in SA. Pretty quick turn around when it was done.

cheers for that he,s the guy that I think a lot of people used for rewinding for the 24hr reliability race if memory is correct for big usefull headlights I will contact him.

The info reinforces that the old school, “we can fix it” people are retiring, and not being replaced.


A few years ago it was difficult to find someone who could repair an alternator on my old Mercedes van.
Found an “old guy”, probably retired or dead by now, who could do it - he was mildly surprised that I was only bringing in the alternator after he advised that the large van wouldn’t fit in his workshop.

That would be ideal.
But it seems most young people (but not all) would rather be “influencers” than trades people.
I’m told by my friends still working in the trades, that the newbies think they should be “off the tools” and into management as soon as they finish their apprenticeship.
