NorthStarTrailride2015
« on: December 29, 2014, 06:29:38 PM »
North Star Trail Ride 2015 edition will be on 25/26 July2015.The NSTR playground covers about 500sq km,so plenty of room, with all trails open from 9.30 Saturday,and8.00 on Sunday, with tracks from the pee wee's in the ring,6k Novice,20,40,and 85k Junior and Senior Tracks. The ride started in 2006 with 60 riders and for the last few years has been the biggest Trailride in Australia.Plenty of old bikes and riders, with people coming from all over the country.Bypasses on the harder parts(we have been bribed and put a bypass around the Enchanted Forest). The NSTR is part of the Dalby Moto Trailride Series.

More than a Trailride,we have 2 Helicopters for an aerial view, and we will be having some entertainment at night in the ring(check the Facebook page for updates). We have the best facilities you will find, and the trails cover all types of terrain, from aptly named Conrod straight,to the haunting vine scrub Enchanted Forest, and the Mount Mitchell Hillclimb.

North Star is 50k south east of Goondiwindi, the Campground will be open from Thursday with full facilities available at the Club, there is no fuel at North Star(closest 30k @ Croppa Creek)

Organise time off now,and make sure you have Ambulance cover if you are NOT from Qld.Check out the North Star Trail Ride Face Book page, for comments and Videos of past events(all info from 2014 is still there,re track marking, give aways, lunch at fuel stop etc)and updates as it gets closer.

Check out "Vimeo.com/27394481" to get you in the mood, and search"ADB North Star Trail Ride"for articles on previous Rides.

North Star Trailride in ADB.April(out now)Australasian Dirt Bike has a feature on last years North Star Trailride. The NSTR Commitee is working hard on the 10th Ride, and will be making announcements on the 2015 Ride,on the Facebook page as,we count down to July 25/26.
Thanks to ADB,and journo Lucas Moro for doing the story. In the past we have given away a lot of riding gear ,bits and pieces ,camping gear, generators, helmets, helicopter rides etc, this year will be no different, and just by being at briefing, riders will once again have the chance to win! We are working on something special this year,so watch this space!

Thanks to Thomas Lee Motorcycles(Moree),and the North Star Trailride 2015 committee, one lucky rider will be taking home a new Honda CRF50,which will be drawn at Sunday Briefing(you need to be there to win). There will also be Helmets and other gear given away at Saturday and Sunday briefings.Watch the facebook page for more info,as we have now got the insurance, ambos, and all the other bits sorted,we will be updating the website soon.We will be running under an MQ permit,so riders with MA licences can use them, and 1 event licences will be available for everybody else. The entry forms will be 1 page with everything on it,making sign up much easier.

The ride is open to everyone with a dirt bike, and we usually get a lot of old bikes,as the terrain is fairly open, with bypasses for the hard bits.We have a few riders who ride their 70's era bikes that they raced, back in the day.Food, drinks, facilities and camping from Thursday till Monday, and all Tracks open from 9.30 Sat,and8.30 Sun,and a Barbie and Drinks available at the Fuel Stop both days.

MAKE SURE you have Ambulance cover if you are not from Qld.

Australasian Dirt Bike will be coming to the North Star Trailride again this year, they must like the beer.Editor,Mitch Lees gave us a call a while ago, keen to do another story. They have been three times previously.

Track marking has started, with 150kms of Trails,it is a big job.We got 2 truckloads of road signs from the shire,as the cows and cockies eat the pink tape and cardboard arrows,we are going to guilo the aluminium signs into arrows, that should stop the buggers.

Any one interested in sweeping, give me a call,on 0428545367,last year we had 50 sweeps, and a few can't make it this year,so if you have sweep experience we might need a hand.

The Choppers will be back again, and with the all the crops in,our playground will be green, and look good from the bike,as well as from the air, give Goondiwindi Helicopters a call,or see Grant anytime over the weekend.

Checkout the website and facebook pages, and if you DON'T live in Qld,make sure you have Ambulance cover!!!!

Only 25 sleeps to go!We will be flat out track marking, and with cattle in nearly every paddock we have made another 8 grids to keep them all in place, and let the bikes through.Sportzprints have done some designs for hats, hoodies ,shirts, jackets etc,and will have them for sale, online and at the event, these guys do a fantastic job,and it costs us nothing to have them, and we get a percentage of his sales, that will go to our support groups.
Anyone interested in promoting their events, club,or business,we are having a "trade show"to let our sponsors show their wares,we have opened this up to anyone, and as the North Star Trailride has been the largest gathering of Dirt Bike Riders in Australia for the last few years, you are guaranteed to have plenty of interest, with riders coming from all over Australia, and ADB will be back to do another story.Online entry is now available, checkout the facebook page, while you are there have a look at the cover photos, particularly the KTM 525 in the dry dam,or so he thought! We named it "Millers Dam"after the rider. His mates had to lay logs on the surface,to get the rider and bike out.

The freebies just keep coming, today Carpendale Commodities and Transport,Goondiwindi have given us 6 helicopter joy flights to give away, and Goondiwindi Helicopters have donated a 30 minute chopper ride to be raffled, all up $1000 worth, with the HondaCRF50,from Thomas Lee Motorcycles,Moree, and helmets and other gear,we already have over $3000 of give always,to be drawn on Saturday and Sunday. If you don't win a chopper ride,Grant will have his R22 and R44 at the Trailride all weekend, book a ride or just turn up.I cheat a bit, because I am on recovery duties, and if it gets a bit quite,I give him a call, and get him to pick me up from where ever I am,and take a few photos, and video.A couple of years ago we hooked up with the local sweeps, who marked the track, and cruised along at 140 kph, just off the deck beside them.I got some great shots from the air and the ground,we took a still from the helmet cam,of the chopper cruising past, and the local paper printed it full page,AWSOME!Bucket list stuff, you can imagine you are at the Dakar, riding with the film crew, without the expense of getting to South America.Checkout "Vimeo.com27394481"

I have been annoying all of the local Radio DJs,to help us out on Saturday Morning, for the last couple of years Greg Henry from NOW FM has come out and done a fantastic job, giving all the sponsors a wrap, and keeping the music flowing, but he can't make it this year.Today I spoke to the new Girl at NOW,Jess, and she is keen to come out,and just happens to come from Kurri Kurri, and went to school with Chad Reed's sister,so we might get a bit of inside goss about Chad.

More than a Trailride,we have just confirmed that we will have a Mechanical Bull,on Saturday night,so if you aren't too sore from riding, this might just add a bit of pain!!!The bar is good option,to settle your nerves after you bite the dirt.

Your not getting much interest on here Jeff.  I think I'm the only one crazy enough to ride a VMX bike around NorthStar.

I think you will get more interest on DirtBikeWorld and also OldBullTrailriders

Getting close now,the weather gods may add a bit of dust control over the next couple of days, but the weekend looks good, the ADB sub offers have turned up,6 issues for $25 usually $60,only for NSTR2015 riders.Anyone who likes it tough, the 6km Enchanted Forest section is taking the best riders 1.5 hours, best described as a bad(good) hill climb without a hill. The Track Markers think Hugh Keays Byrne plays the Hero in Mad Max 1&4,and they pull the legs off flies, then let them go,knowing if they ever land, they can't take off again.

THE RIDE HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Unfortunately due to heavy rain this morning, and more forecast,we took the decision to cancel the ride for2015.It takes many months of organisation to get all the services in place to run the ride safely and smoothly. There are  other events coming up (the Goondiwindi400 off road)that we share volunteers, medical and other service organisations with,in the country many people wear many hats(our President  scrutineers the Trophy Trucks and Buggies at the G400)

We urge people to support the Dalby Moto series, which is the largest off road motorcycle series in the world, with over 12,000 riders participating each year. All the events are not for profit, raise funds for local schools and charities. Many of the volunteers have no bike background, but they sure know how to put on a good event.

The can do attitude of the people in this area has had an impact on everyone in the sport, one day licences, self penalising starting gates,ACU/MA  sanctioned Trailrides all started in South West Qld.

Don't forget the Goondiwindi MCC 40th coming up on August 22nd,and the Mountain Man 40th on November7/8.I have been going through old photos and have found a few from both Tracks,I do miss oiled tracks,no dust,no track maintenance on race day,no ruts,ah the good old days(after all the oil came from the earth, but hard work spraying it on)
