Competition / 2016 MoMS out
« on: December 14, 2015, 02:21:07 PM »
On the MA website

Pre 75: NO reed valves permitted.

If you own a Husky mag, Pre 75 YZ or DT it's off to Evo for you.

Evo:

A date of Pre 90 has been placed on Evo. So while it must be air cooled, drum braked and non linkage you can source all components from up to and including a Pre 90 bike including the U.S.D. Fork

All eras:

Engines and gearboxes must be externally unchanged has had a line drawn through it and is no more.

Well done the rule makers at MA. You have just signed the death warrant for your own title events

Does anybody have a air box cage and nut for a 1981 IT 175 H that they would part with. It's the same cage and nut as a 1981 YZ 125 H

Could somebody post this on the yamahait.com.au site for me please.

General Discussion / BEER
« on: March 11, 2014, 07:04:29 PM »
Just drinking a stubby of Carlton Dry.

The label reads " The extended brewing process removes sugars creating a smooth crisp finish with lower carbohydrates "

Smooth crisp finish...WTF

It's starting to rival wine with its BS spiels

What do other beers say ?

After a marathon 17 hour session at Teknik last Saturday it lives.

A huge thank you goes out to my mate, Nick Dole at Teknik Racing for turning this old bike into what you see here.

After wheeling it into his shop at 8am he pulls it completely apart. Supplies and fits new steering head bearing kit, new swingarm bearings, new linkage bearings, new front and rear tyres, new tubes, new rim bands, new rim locks, new gear lever, new 34mm carby, new throttle cable, new grips. Services and fits V4S travel control valves and new springs in the fork. Drills out PFR pegs to accomodate larger pins. Cuts and bends DG pipe to fit neatly and makes new brackets to mount pipe and muffler. Fits new engine bolts. Machines nylon spacers to space sidecovers. Machines new chain roller. Heat guns plastics to fit properly.

At 10pm he has the shock dismantled on his bench. He tells me its fu...cked and he doesnt have the parts in stock to fix it. I say no prob, you have done well and it is 10pm after all. He then walks out the back and grabs a 50mm solid piece of aluminium bar, sticks it in the lathe and makes a new seal head and all the other bits he needs.

At 1am Sunday morning he starts it up and rides it down the road to test it, adjusts carby and we load it into my trailer. Job done.

All of this work was done in house, on one day by one man. There wouldnt be a bike shop around with the capability and the inclination to give a customer this type of service.

People ask me why do i always take my bikes to Teknik. Well there are bike shops with mechanics and then there is Teknik Racing.

Vinduro / IT 200 Bearings
« on: November 22, 2013, 04:16:22 PM »
Where do you guys get the rear linkage bearings for a IT 200 from. Is there an aftermarket kit available?

1 x 93317-32034-00 Bearing. $72.20 from Yamaha.

2 x 93315-31732-00 Bearing. $155.30 from Yamaha

2 x 93109-20076-00 Oil Seal. $30.70 from Yamaha

All these parts are available from Yamaha. At those prices I can see why.

Cheers

General Discussion / North Island NZ
« on: October 29, 2013, 09:02:59 AM »
The wife and I are touring New Zealand over Xmas. Can somebody fill me in on the must do's on the North Island. We have a motor home for ten days. Are prepared to drive 500 klms a day just as we did on the South Island two years ago. As we are in our 50's exclude blue light discos, raves, art galleries and botanic gardens etc. Like to see and learn Mairo culture, heritage and scenery.

Besides Bill said that if I didn't return his Parts book pronto he would sick the Guvnor onto me ;D

Cheers
