« on: April 28, 2013, 12:09:14 PM »
Can a UK member of OZVMX forum ask for more pictures and bid on this item if possible please. Seller does not respond to OZ buyers for whatever reason.

Thank You

Tech Talk / Re: How to remove a seized swingarm bolt?
« on: April 26, 2013, 09:46:52 PM »
I dont think it will be sized in engine cases. it will be frame or bushing (rust). in that case you may be able to drill the swing arm bolt out bit by bit. i would not bash it with hammer or use oxi torch (aluminium swing arm and cases) not sure about 100t press. WD 40, brake fluid etc will surely help. Just be patient and gentle and it will come out. Dont ruin your frame, swing arm or cases. Swing arm bolt is only $30. Good luck

Tomas here ,joined a few weeks ago. Like motocross and motocross bike since i was a kid. Never owned a motocross bike, but used to ride my uncles 75 CZ380 Falta for many years back in Czechoslovakia. Great bike.
About a year ago i finaly got my own bike. I am restoring a 79 suzuki rm 125 and hoping to ride it soon. Want to have only one bike as i dont have much space but it is geting out of control. Already have 2 spare motors. Just in case.
Also this is great place to share ideas about how to do rebuilds, repairs and where to ride. Vintage motocross here is well organized and have a lots of supporters. I am in Sydney for now but will be moving to Perth in a couple of months. It is geting harder to find a good job around Sydney. According to Pre85vmx web site, there are a few good vmx friendly tracks around Perth so i will give it a go.
Have a good day

CZ / Re: side pipe crank

if your bearing is for example 25x60x15
you can try to find a bearing that is 24x60x15 and machine your crankshaft to fit.
or
you can try to find a bearing that would be 24x62x16 or similar and machine you crankshaft and crankcase to fit it. this way you will also have your bearing tightly fitted in crankcase just like when it was new.
or
if above options dont work out you can find a bearing that is say 30x60x15 or similar  and get your crankshaft sleeved and fit the bearing.
i would not weld it. heat from welding may affect hardness and you crankshaft can break. also would use a sleeve that is at least 1.5 -2.5 mm thick. thin sleeves do stretch after some time and become loose.
this way you will end up with a neat and lasting repair. if you live around sydney Greg Ball is the best.
just try and see what bearing you can find and go from there.
hope it helps

Suzuki / Re: 1980 rm 125 titanium clutch parts
« on: April 10, 2013, 02:41:00 PM »
thank you for your comments guys. you may be right. it may be just some sort of hardened aluminium. i am just not sure if aluminium would be strong enough for a clutch lifter but there may be some wear resistant grade. could  only find very little about use of titanium in motocross bikes on the internet. mainly small parts like bolts, nuts, springs etc in late seventies and early eighties in works bikes.

just picked up a 1980 rm 125 motor today $75. to my surprise clutch lifter and clutch plates are titanium. there is some wear but it is in usable shape. just would like to know if titanium parts were available in 1980 or is this some kind of works motor? the rest of the motor looks standard.
