gidday all,
first job was in 74 at a servo come bikeshop ,serving petrol, servicing bikes and cars, making fibreglass stone fairings and cafe racer guards etc.
first bike was Honda dax 70,progressed to yamaha electric start 80cc trailbike,ts125j then a series of roadies.
built up a yoshimura kitted cb125 into a bombardier garelli frame, then put same motor into a XL125.
shifted into city to Suzuki dealership workshop about when the first RM125 came out.
I never was interested in the MX scene then and was a poor rider.
just did trailriding up to being involved at the VMX nationals that were held near my home in Tassie.
The bug bit and I purchased an XL350 sideport for the pre 75 class.
The first race meeting fetched me back to reality. My two weaknesses have always been riding in loose
conditions and ruts. The track was almost 100% powder and ruts!
The leader almost lapped me in a 4 lap race.I kept at it and after 2 years could be within a couple of bike lengths of him.
After a break of 12 months from all sorts of riding, I have started racing again and have found out just how out of condition I really am.

my real name is Michael, the nickname came from working at a place with four Michaels and the boss coined me with gorby- short for Mikael gorbachoffe .
