Track time
« on: March 07, 2019, 11:44:48 PM »
I received the “final instructions” for the Connondale Cup today.
After signing on at 07:30, and staying all day. I can expect 10 mins track time on Saturday. (1 practice)
Sunday sign on at 06:30, but am scheduled for 3 x 10 min races.

It’s a common reason quoted for people not racing anymore: ALL weekend, and possibly Friday afternoon for 40 mins riding. (Don’t mention the $130? Entry fee. Over $3/minute to use the track!!)

Practice days are about the same. All day for 30 mins riding.

I guess you have to have your own track, or go to a “ride park” if you actually wanted to set your bike up. EG change a suspension setting and go back out (2hrs later).

Yeah that's why we stopped doing any big events, way to much money spent, for very little track time. Even worse, if you have probs in the first moto and you have to pack up early.
We get heaps of track time on club prac days though, most people don't even do the final round..

The club are fantastic. Obviously constrained by the number of classes and number of riders.
They let me sign up at the last minute for the “Enduro” class as well - so I’ve doubled my track time. (Lucky to have a suitable bike - old KTM 450EXC)

Riding two bikes/classes at the QLD road racing championships a few weeks ago meant better track time. I guess thats the approach to take if it’s available.

“I’d like to enter the ‘old and slow’ class, as well as the ‘old and extra slow’ class please.

(Track looks good - over grown with grass in spots)

I have really enjoyed CD the few times I’ve attended.

This year there are 2.
1. Classic Dirt at QMP (new venue) May 3-5th
2. Classic Weekend (Ride) at beautiful Green Park Connondale (Venue for CD the last few years) June 7-9

CD is great! but unfortunately it doesnt change venues like it used to. I cant justify driving from Melbourne to Queensland for it.. :'(
