Why not put a pic of the forks up,some one on here will know what they are. With Yamaha front hubs their all the same dimension from yz A models to the last of the front drumy's on tt600L but little things like speedo drives differ on it400C to the D model on hubs

I know what the forks are ;), they are aftermarket KYB but i want to know what front wheel was originally in them. I suspect yamaha because the brake anchor tag is about 1-2mm too thick for any suzuki plate. I will have to check a YZ465? TLS brake plate i have. If that at least locates, it would tell me it at least had a yamaha hub. I have around a 131-132mm gap for wheel to work with.

I think it might be from TT500 but i am not 100% sure. I was told that. TT did not have speedo drive. Would those wheels fit a 131-132mm gap properly?

Do you know the front wheel bearing numbers? i can look up what size they are. Oh and this had a 15mm axle too......
My info says left and right bearings are both 6202 (11mm wide ) although partzilla says they are different numbers but i think one may be sealed and onw unsealed?

Looks like i need to know these parts

11 - 11mm
8
9
10 - 11mm
21

don't think part 22 adds to the width? Says its a dust cover.

I just tried  a YZ TLS brake plate and it does not fit the fork. I was thinking it would. The brake lug does not reach the plate, plus the brake lug is 18mm thick and too thick for the 16.6mm wide slot in the plate. Maybe the single leading show TT/IT plates are different? I am stil pretty sure its going to be yamaha but if all their plates are same spec as the  YZ TLS then i have no fricken idea.

Leith
The two wheel bearings are the same left and right .
Yes that is a plastic dust cover and slips over the wheel spacer .
I have a YZ465 brake plate and single TT500 brake plates both types I can measure those for you if you want ?
TT500 bikes did come with speedos I just sold a NOS lighting kit with Speedo and Speedo drive all brand new in a box with manual .
I have the Yamaha hubs if you need the measurements.

Yes that would be good Thanks. i thought the lighting/speedo kits for  TT were an optional add on kit from the TY trials bike that was only added by some local dealers.

I reckon go with the TT500 plate first. Measure the width of the slot in it. Has to be 18mm or slightly wider, probably more like 19mm as the brake lug is tight on 18mm thick so an 18mm slot would be very tight still.

Yes the Speedo was optional you need to remove the wheel spacer and replace with Speedo drive .
I’ve measured two TT500 brake plates the slot gaps vary from one to the other but I say a bit of wear and tear over the last 40 years .
One plate slot is 16.25 - 16.50
The other plate   17.20 - 16.86

The YZ465 tls brake plate fits on the later model TT500 forks 79,80,81
With no mods needed I fitted one just to see .

Ok so it looks like no Yamaha plate/wheel was in these then as 18mm  lug wont go into any of those. Mystery deepens now. Thanks

That's a long list of wheels to try to identify forks from, they were also a lot of different forks for all those models.
You would be better concentrating on backing plate lists and identifying fork attributes

For 250 and big bores;
YZ D models had a shorter underhang under the axle
YZ E & F models have a longer underhang and also have a fake nipple for the oil drain just above the real one
YZ models have the drain behind the fork
IT models have the drain at the side of the fork, up to 81/82 as far as I know
125's were a smaller diameter.
Early TT/XT were in line axle
Later TT/XT were leading axle but have a short underhang not unlike the YZ D models

Well they were sort of universal with slight variances for the particular wheel that went in them. I was sure it was going to be yamaha but if all the  TT/XT/IT/YZ plates have 16-17mm wide slots they wont fit.

There is  a slim chance a 76-77 RM250/370 brake plates fits. I have not got one to check and only have a C plate and i know that does not fit
It still does not make sense because they run 12mm axle and the LH slider is drilled for 15mm

Would a 130mm suzuki plate a yamaha hub? and then maybe they just drilled the brake plate out to 15mm? i dont know. I have tried asking the hguy i got them off but i doubt he remembers or has any photos of what wheel was fitted.

Ahhh, your not looking at the forks for ID so they must be aftermarket, I still think you should concentrate on the backing plates.
Some Yamahas have the lug in line with the fork and some are at an angle, more to the rear of the fork tube, that should whittle the suspects down a bit

It would only be a leading axle fork plate. I would have expected yamaha would have use a common width in the plate slot for everything 77 to about 81.
Mick has already ruled out the TT500 plates.
