At 2500 its way over priced , wrong swing arm , the shock top mounts have been butchered . without the airbox // filter how long was the motor run for . Ive just finished a rebuild of one close to this condition 4.5 k plus the purchase of the bike . Iain .

I ran into a bloke on an immaculate xl 500s complete with 23 inch front wheel and he started banging on about how it was a collector's item..HMMM I thought to my self 8)....then he said " I paid a fortune for one of those very rare sc 500 yamahas" "hardly ever see one for sale "...I rekon there is always one for sale at some stage on gt, jb or fleabay....Good luck with that ::)

I'm getting sick of the "its worth a fortune " Rare in this condition or VMX endure, bobber , adds . the amount of shit these people go on with is amazing . Half the time they are guessing a price from looking at a fully restored bike that sold for big bucks on Evilbay or Bumtree . Little do they think to get that 5k plus for the bike the builder spent 4.5k . Then you have rip off merchants like Extreem motorcycles in WA selling bikes at way over the top prices for rattle can resto's . Had my bitch feel lots better now . Iain

Have not bought it for years how times change used to be at the news paper shop to get the trading post early for the bargains then just bikes and motorcycle trader . now its all electronic .

I sold 2 of them in2015 for $2500 and one was race ready and other a goer the market was better then as well, if he wants to sell it $1500 we all know what they cost to repair

I remember them being way over powered for the frame and nothing special at all...now they seem to be someones idea of something special from the time?? did I miss something ???

slipping an SC500 motor into a YZB frame is a fairly popular mod - and turns out a dynamite bike :)
