Yes, they are pretty good at getting the races through the gate and so on. But when they ran them a few years ago, there was no Pre 90 class. Still, let's hope they go with the combined titles - it'd be a big weekend for sure but pretty damned exciting I'd reckon.

In recent years,as you know,the Classic DT nats have been pre-85 and earlier. The pre-85 class appeared to be one of the lesser classes on numbers- being fairly new to the program . Evo had a good turn-out, but the DT nats have largely been about pre-78 and earlier bikes for quite a few years now. I hope the committee acknowledges this and at least combines the Classic and Post Classic. If one HAS to be dropped it should be Post Classic IMO.

Well, as has been posted elsewhere it looks like the Nats will be Pre 78 only. I don't know what the chances are of there being a Post-Clasic Dirt Track championship in 2012, but this late in the piece I'd guess slim. Still, it means that there is now some certaintly around what will happen in Canberra, so we can all get those Pre 78 dirt track sleds out and start prepping. Should be a top event!

I think that means I need to find a TT500 somewhere...

That's sad to hear. I was really looking forward to riding this event but with only one pre '78 bike, a 125, I wont be going.

As I said on the other thread,I reckon they could pull off both over and under pre 78 with this event but now that they've decided to go with the pre 78 cut I think they've made the right choice. The pre 75/78 division has been clearly the most well supported section of dirt track so it'd be pretty unfair to omit them from the Nats.

Surely there's an available date at Nepean where Penrith, BWP or St George could bung on a Post Classic Nats?  There's a free weekend on November, 17th that dosen't seem to clash with anything, although it's a week after HEAVENS last round. Maybe the Retro guys could organise it. A November date gives plenty of time to prepare so why can't it be done?

Word from Darrylene Austin is that a final decision has not been made yet.
Don't change your plans just yet, that announcement may be a touch premature.
I've spoken to a few people this arvo and if there is a split, Nepean is definitely interested in holding the Post Classic's.

 Following on from the other thread, its possible that a few more entries may now be added from the pre '78s as the program won't be overloaded.
 I'm sure there would be quite a full program of bikes later than '78 which will make a big event for those entries if a meet was put on later this year as suggested.

I will be talking to my club in Coffs Harbour on the weekend to see if they are interested in running the Post classics in November, however preliminary discussions don't look good unless I can recommend some personal to help with running the event and some sponsorship $.
 
Personally I don't think there would be enough entries to make it worthwhile if it was evo, pre 85 and pre 90 only, I suggest some support classes be added to boost numbers, if there was support classes like;

 - Pre 78 right back to pre 60 combined but divided into capacities for over 35 years old.
 - Sliders, pre 78 and modern sliders run seperately.
 - Quads, all year models.

 It could make this a unique event.

I'm not too sure. At the local club day on Sunday it was said that discussions with MA are still happening and a decision has not yet been made. I understand it may be another week or two.
