Unfortunately Pacific Park is not that flash. Give it an hour and you will be bored, but there is always a plethora of bogans on pit bikes to laug.......look at. They are closed all of August for maintanace, so maybe they have tidied up the track a bit. Not much other choice around here though unfortunately. I'm going out to give the bike a run this Sunday to get it sorted for the Cookadinia Vinduro next weekend, but i'm only a 15min drive away.

Anyone know of a good trail riding/camping spot not too far a drive from Sydney I can take my 10 year old to over the Xmas Hols? Something better than Pacific Park!

I am not sure if open over Xmas but Raymond Terrace 30minutes past end of the F3
and Singleton Club lets you ride around their tracks (one for kids and one for grownups) for 40 dollars a day, usually the last 2 sundays of each month.
They are tracks, MX tracks but not like your normal overly Jump and rythm sectioned tracks, so any age bike can have fun on them.
I wish there were more areas with trails etc on private property but I can't find them. Not close to Sydney that is.

Binacrombi & Lockmaree, near Goulburn
Has anyone been to these riding spots. What are they like? Do either of them have a good MOTOCROSS track to ride?
Cheers,
Ken

G'day Ken,
mate i used to ride Lockmaree a LOT years ago, excellent trails, very good amenities (old house with bunks and kitchen, clean and tidy, well set up.) They , the original guys (Rob and Wayne R.I.P both) were building an MX track, but was more a grass track back then, you'd be best off ringing and speaking with the current owners whomever they are for an update. Like i say, the trails were excellent, a couple reasonable smaller hills, lots of single track  but not the type you need bark busters for, some flowing over grown two wheel tracks etc.  The only down side back then was a fair bit of dirt road from outside Goulbourn to get there.

Hope this helps!

Unless Wayne died since June, he's still there to my knowledge. I spoke with Paul Bower current owner of Lochmaree and he did'nt mention it.
I haven't done Binacrombi for a few years but the Yamaha forum does regular rides at Lochmaree each year. The trails are awesome, great set up accomodation. The mx track is pretty forgiving for old bikes even IT's can jump ;) They restrict the amount of riders on the property which is good and trails range from easy to hard to cater for everyone.
Check out there website: http://www.lochmaree.com.au/

Let's face it some dirt bikes were never meant to be ridden.

I went to have a look at Mr VMX last year at Barleigh Ranch, looks to be a vintage friendly track. I am led to believe that you can just turn up and ride on a practice day (for a reasonable fee).
Can anyone confirm this and advise if you need to also join the Hunter MCC or do they accept members of other clubs, HEAVEN etc? Does anyone know what ride/practice days the track is open for over the next couple of months. I've had a look at the Hunter MCC website but they don't have a 2013 calendar as yet.

You can just turn up, pay your fee and ride. They organize it well. They ask you what kind of rider you are and give you an appropriate coloured wrist band to put on your bikes cross bar pad. Then they run closed practice sessions for I think 20 minutes, maybe 30, just for your group. That way, all the boy racers go out together, the juniors go out together and then the rest of us go out together. Then they close the track, water it and go through the sequence again. The track is definitely VMX friendly but a good Motocross test. There are a couple of table tops but they are tame.

It's called MX Central. This is the calendar http://www.mxcentral.com.au/calendar.php

Come join Heaven though, we are a bunch of friendly enthusiasts, some just out for a bit of a ride and some get into the racing, but all there to keep Motocross what it should be, a good time, and the whole club is very welcoming.

I have recently rediscovered the Appin motocross track run by the Macarthur District Motorcycle Club. Open nearly every Saturday, Sunday & Tuesday of the year for practice at very reasonable rates once you join the club, this is an excellent MOTOCROSS track run by a helpful and professional team. The track is a true full length MOTOCROSS track, quite technical, and takes a while to string together a good lap. Situated on the side of a hill with uphill and down hill sections, rough in some places with little traction, smooth and tacky in others with lots of traction, fast and slow off cambers, some vintage friendly table tops and most importantly, fun to ride. All this and it is a 50 min run down the M5 from my workshop in Marrickville Sydney.

3 different level kids only tracks for the little guys, a shop and clean toilets. I'm wrapped and living the dream!!! ;D

Nowra MX track, MX track, two kids tracks and a 1000 acres of bush trails, best all rounder riding close to Sydney. A big group of us, dads and Kids go down at least once a month. Our kids gone off MX tracks and love the Bush Enduro loops. So great to see young kids out riding with all that space and great for the dads to head into the bush with them. You can camp there for a small fee, very basic. Open Friday to Mondays and all school holidays. I should be keeping this a secret. Cheaper if you join.
We also go to Louee a couple of times a year and heading out there again in September, best place to ride, great MX tracks, great bush Enduro loops and facilities.
Lochmarree is not bad, MX tracks are not the best, bush tracks are ok, but for my money Louee is the place.

Hi EML,

Just North of Gulgong is Free Flight MX Park. It has some excellent riding with a great VMX track around the back with awesome berms and a great woop section. Definitely worth the visit. I have also been told the Goanna Tracks outside Coonabarabran, is a great place to ride as well.

Thanks KJ.
Not sure sidecars and "nice woop section" go hand in hand  :D  Murray Bridge had two of them and it sucks the guts out of passengers.
I'll look at both of them on utube if they're up.

We are not associated with ma or mnsw,no licence is required, there's no racing as in a start gate but once out the gate human nature takes over,we usually run between ten to fifteen minute motos and on a normal day you will get in about five

South of Canberra are the Tinduary Mountains, I grew up riding trails there 30 years ago and spent last week there doing the same, its not a legal place to ride but was on my bucket list to do again; rode 200k a day in the best trails I have ever been on. Was worth the 2600k drive.
Not VMX, but last time I rode there was on my new RM125N in 1979 - it was a great week, found the top of the range and got out unscathed!

Tinderry Ranges, at Bredbo?

I've ridden from (just out of) Bredbo to the top of Mt Clear (other side of the Monaro Hwy to the Tinderrys). We stumbled over one of the local fast guy's practice special test: it was brutal, with impossibly off-camber corners and ridiculous hidden apexs. We had a variety of skill levels in our group, but we all left feeling like raw novices.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
