Montesa 250 v75 or 250 va
« on: May 24, 2010, 08:53:14 PM »
Hello
I purchased a montesa V75 or VA in a 360VA frame last week.It was stored for 25 years.
The previous owner did mix two bikes a 250 and a 360.The framenumber is 66m0040 (ferry low )
The engine number is 73m9856 .I don`t know if it is a v75 or a va? The cylinder has a bridge ported outlet.
and a old style piston .
With the bike came a rigth centercase ,has the same number 3460002w the same crank dimension only a bigger bore
It wil be from the original 360va bike. I was surpriced when i split the engine al looks new.
The bike is olmost compleet only miss a coil and carb.
The shocks are these strange telesco hydrobags ,360vb?

Its my fourth montesa in my live

I found  interesting sites :
www.italkit.com
has new montesa pistons/conrods you can order from a local moped store.

The V75 still used a bridged exhaust.  The 76' VA 250 had a reshaped (oval) exhaust
port with no bridge.

Anything is possible given time and money ;) :D. The big differences are gearboxes and barrel and heads. But there are other differences like flywheel weights and I think that at least one crank end is different to accommodate.

I think you would always be better off seeking out Cappra bits.
