To my knowledge RM400N's were not painted yellow, the colour was in the plastic pigment. New plastics would be a better option than painting them as I have
NEVER seen a good job done yet (cracking and peeling always).

Try here for good fenders and side panels...

painting plasitic IS possible and doesnt peel, crack or bubble if done right. eg the correct preparation, paint, additives, primers etc and by someone experienced and knows how to do it.

i dont believe the forks were painted gold on RM's but i could be wrong. they were usually polished and painted clear. if your forks look a goldy colour its because the clear coat they used goes yellowish after many yrs. the triple clamps wer painted champagne gold though. ive got the paint number for that paint. i will have to get it for you in a day or two though. you cant go into a suzuki shop and buy 08C though.

The forks were not painted gold, they were painted champagne gold which is a very VERY pale (yellow/gold) silver

check the colour chart and fork part number here...

i ment to say champagne gold. i just shortened it. i was never saying they could of been a gold gold and i said i may of been wrong about the polishing. so they would be the same gold as the triple clamps. its interesting if you look at the part number for the outer tubes and there is no 08C after the part number but there is after the number for the whole complerte fork leg assembly, but i always find mistakes on alpha sports so who knows.

So which model RM came with champagne gold forks?? I had several new RM's in the '70s and '80s and they all had clear coated alloy forks.

from what I have seen and the different models I have had no RM had painted forks until 1983. They were all clear coat over the mill finish alloy. The RM500 was the first RM to come out with yellow or coloured forks. The RM400N had triples, bars, rear torque link and shock springs painted in champagne gold but not the fork lowers.

The plastics on my TM's are painted and show no signs of peeling or cracking..in fact the TM plastics were painted from the factory  ;)

here is the details for champagne gold in 2 brands

-Spies Hecker - champagne gold metallic 35P – 90595
-Du Pont, Lucite 400 – champagne gold metallic 35P

by the way this colour (35P) is a suzuki car colour and its the same as the 08C suzuki bike colour champagne gold metallic.

i got it in acrylic and then i put a satin/matt 2 pack clear over the gold parts for bit more durability and chemical resistance
