EOI: MX125/175 and MX250/360 seat bases.
« on: July 26, 2008, 06:32:24 PM »
This thread is for expressions of interest - I don't have anything to sell, yet.

I'm looking into making up reproduction seat bases for these bikes. They will not be 100% as-original, concourse-standard, but they will be strong, good quality, well-fitting parts.

They will also suit DTs with some frame mods, and the YZ125A (not sure about the YZ250/360).

Cost will be minimal - enough to cover the cost of materials and a slab of beer for my fibre-glassing guru mate. Call it $50 each as a starting point - and the more that are made, the lower the unit price.

If you're interested, let me know how interested you are (and let me know which type you're interested in), and I'll keep you in the loop.
ETA is a month or two, but could be quicker if you need it sooner.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Nah, they're different.
I figured the market for fibreglass AT1 seat bases would be... well, Peter and me...And maybe Rodger's brother..
I'm thinking about making an AT1 one for myself - if it turns out OK, another would be possible.

i like the idea of the DC plastic base as it's easier to staple the cover onto.
fibreglass seat bases and staples don't really mix.
good idea though Nathan.

Dont you use pop rivett's on fiberglass ?

You can pop-rivet claw plates onto the bases just like the OEM ones did, you can get strips of them from most upholstery stores.
