CR125/250/500 84/5/6 rear brake torque arm
« on: August 01, 2014, 11:55:54 AM »
My rear wheel backing plate bearing where the torque arm fits up is knackered on my 85 CR, I could not get one from Honda & the bearing shop could not either :(

I'm guessing they are the same from 84-86,has anyone else run into this?

Any fixes?

Thanks :)

There's a bearing on the front and just a bolt at the back on the 84 500 from memory (it's been a while).

There's a thread on here with a replacement bearing for the front (somewhere).  The standard one is an odd size and NLA - is that right  :-\
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

Thanks ,The arm has a spherical bearing on the front and a saddle mount on the brake plate end, There is a spherical bearing in the brake backing plate,

That,s the one I need to fix,it's NLA as far as I know, the front also needs replacing, sound like they are NLA as well :(,both bearings are the same I.D. but different O.D. ;)

OK, I'm with you now.

Here's the thread for the front one.

Looking at a parts diagram it turns out the 1984 only has 2 collars.  That's why it wasn't ringing any bells.

I got mine from the retailer in Geebung from memory.  If you can't find an outlet give me a yell and I will see what I can find.

Is it 19 mm outer and 8 mm inner for the front spherical bearing, these are common.

I gave up on it & fixed it this way, Gotta drill some worksy looking holes in it yet though, ;), Solid round ally bar with milled flats, drilled & tapped to suit bearing shop tie rod ends & pressed a reducing bush to suit an 8mm bolt into the rear brake plate,Sorted :)
