Vale Darren Bookcock.

I realise that it's not really anything to do with VMX but many of us are speedway fans who remember British greats Nigel and Eric Boocock. I just recieved the email below telling me of the sad death of Nigels son Darren and his wife Sharon in a bike accident in Yorkshire, England. I got to know Nigel and Darren very well when the family moved to Australia after Nigel retired from racing. The family moved to my neighbourhood of Maroubra Beach and pretty soon the block of flats they'd purchased became home away from home for overseas speedway riders and mechanics while touring OZ. I watched Darren quickly absorb the Aussie Beach culture and saw him grow to be a really nice young bloke. I'd lost touch with them in recent years and didn't realise that Darren and his Aussie wife Sharon had moved back to England.
I wish Nigel and his extended family my deepest condolences.

-----It is with a heavy heart that I pass on the tragic news of the death of
Darren Boocock and his wife Sharon. The news has also been made public
on the Sheffield web site. Darren's uncle Eric is the Sheffield team
manager and out thoughts go out to him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the couple, on a
personal note too to Nigel and Cynthia here in Australia.

Darren and Sharon were killed in a motorcycle accident in a collision
with another vehicle in South Yorkshire, England, on Friday. They leave
behind them their son Jack, aged 12, who was in France on a school trip
at the time. The family have asked for privacy at this sad time.

Rest in peace Darren and Sharon.

Another doubly sad loss, worse of all a 12year olds world crushed.   RIP together forever loving couple.
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
