Tank mounting
« on: January 06, 2014, 05:14:59 PM »
Can anybody tell me or a picture would be great!! of how the fuel tank mounts at the rear of a 77 AW Maico 400? I have an alloy tank that came with the bike, but it has no tabs at the rear. Front holes line up. Looked at the parts manual, and it shows a bolt going though a bracket on the back of the tank. My tank has nothing, and nothing on the frame to give me any ideas. This has me stumped!! Cannot even see on the tank where anything has broke off. All it has is a tap one side, and a small flat piece of alloy going out sidways from under the tank on the same side as the tap??

should have one on each side then a thick rubber band on it, though   the frame and round the other

Cheers, I will get another welded on and use an RM band that I have spare to hold it on. Thanks champ Makes sense, but could not see where the other had broken off on the weld
