They are the same thread. I have the black caps on my alloy tank. Works fine. I think the first one was yellow plastic but they are impossible to find now.

No. Plastic. However you will normally see them on the "B" in yellow instead of black. (the original brochures show it in white!) You SHOULD be asking a PE250B expert like Bill on the PE list. I have been to his house in NC and I can assure you, he knows his PE250B's !

YES, the yellow cap appears on eBay from time to time, even NOS.
44200-41401-163 is the part number. (the -163 means YELLOW). I saw one a month or two back.

and lots showing them in yellow here

of course, don't forget the PE250B sales movie I scored a few years back!

Thanks Luke, I would prefer yellow if they are spose to be I have just stripped the tank and it is in fairly good nick except for the one decent knee ding but we should be able to fix that fairly easily.

They are a nice bike and I should be able to do it up like my gt80 very nice thanks alot Michael. :)

I had some trouble with the tank cap on my KDX 175 recently and discovered that XR 500 caps are the same thread, as are PE 400 caps.
And Kawasaki kept the same thread at least until the 88 KDX 200

I just watched the sales movie and if my Pe goes that good I,ll be wrapped.
But I am an old fellow and I remember my 1981 KTM 125 LC going up hills a lot better than a Pe. :)
I had to make an extra bolt on flywheel for the guy who owned it.
Have noticed that Ballards sell something exactly the same to this day. ;D

I have always really liked the 250b and I have wanted one for quiet some time I was lucky to get the frame and swingarm etc etc and parts just kept coming up so I have enough to build it now I am very happy. :)
