General Discussion / Re: Toll Warning $$$
« on: April 13, 2018, 10:11:51 AM »
I got a gateway bridge (Brisbane) toll avoidance charge for a QLD registered bike had I sold (and de-registered) 15 years previous. I phoned them and complained and asked them to look at the photo (the photos are usually automatically scanned for rego plates using image recognition software). They said the rego number had been read correctly, but that it was on a 4WD in the photo and they were NSW personalised plates.
Yes they dropped the charge

Yes there were lots of Aussie dealers for the 2000s OSSA trials bikes and the importer was Moto Central in Canberra

The only bikes called OSSAs sold in the 2000s were trials bikes and a long-ride variant of the trials bike. They are not OSSAs in the way that a Super Pioneer is an OSSA. The original OSSA company went out of business in the early 1980s.
The more recent "OSSAs" were made by a new company who used OSSA badging to try and take advantage of brand loyalty that has carried on since the 1970s. The company that made the recent "OSSA"s got into financial difficulties after a couple of years of manufacture and was bought out by one of the more established trials bike manufacturers who has not made any "OSSA"s

Had a friend touch the work when the HF was on years ago with my one and he thought he was going to die, I must have gotten used to it as it would give me a bit of all the time. It is only 3000 volts don't understand why they didn't like it.

Yamaha / Re: Will a twin shock Dt175 accept an early monoshock engine?
« on: January 03, 2018, 10:12:41 PM »
I know that the early monoshock DT175 (EFG) motor will fit in a TY175 frame except for needing a small dent in the bottom frame rail where a screw head lug sticks out a bit under the magneto.
I've got a DT175A motor here but have not yet tested it for fit in a TY175 frame. I had assumed until now that a DT175 ABCD motor would also fit in a TY175 frame. The TY175 motor is a variant on the YZ125C and YZ125X

If you just want the cradle, isn't the SP370 engine cradle the same as the DR400? I welded an RM250C rear subframe to an SP370 cradle just before the DR400 came out. I wish I'd known the DR400 was coming out and saved myself some work

Suzuki / Re: Lightweight TS250/350 - Cycle Guide article.

The 320 Yamaha Majesty motor is a TY250 motor with a bigger sleeve, machined head, machined cases, modded transfer ports, RT3 piston and additional flywheel weight.
The "works" trials 360 motor was RT3 piston, cylinder and head matched to machined TY250 cases. TY250 crankshaft with crankpin relocated (same stroke as RT3), longer conrod and much more flywheel weight.
There was also a motor developed that used the DT400 cylinder but I don't know anything about it.

Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / Re: MAR Ossa parts
« on: October 02, 2017, 07:46:31 PM »
$ value depends on condition, like any old bike.
OEM speedos very expensive
Guards that look original also very expensive
Original carby could be Spanish IRZ, AMAL flange mount or AMAL spigot mount
Do you know what model MAR it is?

No worries I just happen to have two suitably rusty, dusty and minimum shiny bits bikes of your favourite brand ready to give to you at Stanthorpe, Mr Pilot
