Bike Talk / Re: Pre 60 left hand gear change?

I have road bikes that are 1d 4u on r, 1d 5u on r, 1u 4d on l, 1u 3d on r and a Bul that's 1d 4u on r.  I'm ok until I think about it then sometimes I just get lost.  So just don't think about it.  Just remember one way will make you go faster and the other will make you go slower.  Oh, and always try to remember where the brake is........see simple.

We lived next to the park and watched him practice for weeks.  We thought whar's this bloke up to riding in our park?  Got talking to him and even had to fetch him some spanners one day to make adjustments.  Was his real name John Fogwell?

Good stuff.  From Tingalpa we could ride all the way to Cannon Hill through Porter's property or in the other direction via Gumdale down Mt Petrie Road all the way to Leslie Harrison dam.  I remember when they actually hired bikes out at Mt Petrie for a while (XR75's).  The quarry on Belmont Road was on McCorkels land.

I had it checked last year.  The Doc said it was enlarged but I wouldn't win an Oscar for it.

I know a few of the QVMX guys from my time there between 2000-2005 and my daughter loved the camping bit at Gympie, Caboolture and even one time at Kingaroy when she was in her early teens and had a great time and so did I.  Good club.

That's Tingalpa Brisbane....in the '70's when it was full of fibro and housing commission homes , quarries and horse paddocks.

Thought I should say g'day.  I'm 47 and have been riding bikes since I was 10.  First road bike not until I was 24 but still on them.  Got into VMX back in 2000 with QVMX and played around until 2005.  I can't race for shit but love the atmosphere so have just got back into it with BMCC on a Mk4 Pursang.  This is the best old dirt bike site in the world I reckon.

Nice to meet you Popeye.  My kids got a laugh when I told them about you riding the BMX bike backwards on the handlebars around the pits after the meeting.  Cheers Ray (69 Bul).
