CZ / timing sorted
« on: March 04, 2020, 10:32:07 PM »
mate mick jones came around with starting rollers it started ok put a timing light on and made a mark  where spark happened.the stator was fully retarded .then lined up the marks and used a dial indicator it was at 3.5 btdc thought about removing the pin and moving the rotor didn't like that idea evertime you pull it apartit would be hit or miss. drilled and tapped two holes further around the stator mount and got the slot for the stator wires milled longer retarded it further till it measured 2.8 btdc.kick starts great now marked spot now easy to set with timing light. thanks for any advice it all helped.Kiwi

im using the line that has the arrow pointing clockwise the line with the arrow going anti clockwise puts the the wires right at the bottom i've ordered a degree wheel and timing light of amason and are probably going to remove the locating pin on the crankshaft my husky with mbz the rotor just locks on the taper..anybody know if these ignitions have a digital advance thats doing my head in as well it may advance 22 degrees at high revs but needs to be set lower at startup speeds.be good if these came with good fitting instuctions.

CZ / still have timing problems
« on: January 08, 2020, 09:17:59 PM »
I have tried the timing back to almost tdc still kicking back through the kickstarter but I don't want to break another one. I have put a link to the photo. maybe iv'e done something wrong? I put some 1.4 solder into the squishband it dosn't touch. This motor has the cutaway crankshaft weights and a tiny aluminium rotor, no big ignition flywheel so everything must have to be spot on for it to start. if anybody knows someone in sydney area who could sort it out i would gladly pay to have it done. I've had enough.

At the red mark in the photo is where tdc is

Thanks Kiwi

gee old bikes are fun, just finished swaping the 250 motor into the 125 falta with new vape internal rotor ignition, not many specs for the falta i know older czs are 2.8 to 3.btdc i set it at 2.9 it backfired and broke the kick starter knuckle luckily not my foot.the ignition came with very little imformation, nothing about timing.the donor motor which had points had 2.8 painted on the ing cover.ANY IDEAS.Anyone got a kickstarter for sale or swap i have quite a few extra parts.thanks for any help Kiwi.

Thanks mate that worked.

I'll give you a tip; don't buy an electric mountain bike. I just got one and it's so good i don't like my old dirt bikes as much anymore. Theyre unbelieveable i can keep up with my kids and younger mates.
