Kawasaki / KX or SR?? Top end identification.
« on: April 18, 2017, 05:54:39 PM »
Hello.
My brothers building a -84 KX500, he has two top ends, that we thought where the same until we got them together...

The silver one is clearly bigger than the other.
The bore is the same.
The bolt patterns are the same.
The reed bolts are the same, so no -83/-84 difference.
The silver one har a coarse sandcast finish.
It has no markings, same on the head.
The ports are bigger, and is handported, as opposed to cast on the stock one.

Question of course: Can it be a SR?

« on: May 08, 2016, 07:18:18 AM »
Hello.
I just started making sidecovers for my Cheney Honda XL350 sideport.
I need a 90 degree bend from the carb (Mikuni 36) to the airfilter (through the sidecover)
Any ideas where or from what bike I can find one??
Thanks :)

Tech Talk / Machining piston
« on: May 07, 2015, 06:29:00 PM »
Hey.
I'm building a 69 Husky 400 engine.
I have a stock 82mm cylinder, but only a used 82,25 or ,5 (haven't measured) piston.
Do you think it's different castings for all dimensions, with just thinner machined walls, or is the ,5 piston ,5 mm bigger inside?
If not so, can it just be put in the lathe and machined down to fit?

Don't know if I bother to try, probably best to find one that fits, just thought about it.
Would think it has a little space in the ring groove to let the ring go ,12/25mm further in.
Anyone tried this?

Cheers

After endless distractions I've finally been able to get on a bit on the Cheney Yam.

I've been wanting to make it blue, and found a blue NOS Petty Tony D.
Now I really would like a blue Petty MX REAR also.
Must me new or very good condition, happy for any leads!
Thanks

Not VMX, sorry...
But I'm offered a 1962 Bultaco TSS125, 4speed aircooled, original bike with matching and correct numbers.
Don't know much about them, so if anyone have any thoughts about it, parts, value etc etc I'll be very happy for info.

« on: August 21, 2013, 07:27:54 PM »
Hello :)

Can anyone please measure up the dimensiones of the SUZUKI tanksticker on a 76/77 rm125 alloy tank?

I had some made with 250/370 length, and it looks a bit big on the 125 tank, did it have smaller letters than the big bikes??

Thanks

Tech Talk / Removing anodizing?
« on: July 29, 2013, 07:57:43 AM »
I have a pair of good Excel rims, but the anodizing has gone ugly/matte/chipped.
I want to polish the rims, but soon found out that the rest of the anodizing needed to come off first.

I don't have any proffesionals around, and sending them far off, waiting and paying for everything and then have to polish, it will be better to just buy a new set. But I'd like polished rims, and without the coloured logo...

I have heard that it can be done at home, can anybody help out on how??

I tried once before myself, with caustic soda, it boiled all over, and the RM swingarm turned black with SEVERE pitting. Don't want that to happen again, so any advice would be great...

Thanks!
