Competition / 2021 MoMS
« on: December 03, 2020, 06:51:46 am »
The 2021 MoMS are now available on line (chapter 10 is relevant for Classic MX). Check out the new Post Classic classes (Period 20 & Revolution), then get yourselves exited & bikes prepared for the Classic Nationals (July 9/10/11) followed by the Post Classic Nationals 1 week later (July 16/17/18), both to be held at Nowra Motoplex, N.S.W, on purpose built tracks. A number of inaugural (very first) Australian champions will be crowned over both events in new title classes, so something to strive for. Put these dates on the "not to be missed" list & get ready to turn some dirt! Bring it on....

Competition / Use of leaded fuel
« on: May 04, 2018, 11:26:32 am »
With the phasing out of leaded fuel in competition looming in 2019, here's a short survey in an attempt to gauge numbers of those who still use it in competition (classic MX/DT). Results will be forwarded to MA for consideration. There is a deadline, so please ask as many as possible who feel it's relevant to them to respond. In addition, should any CMX/DT club wish to contribute please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Cheers,

General Discussion / Not VMX but fast & worth a look.
« on: March 12, 2018, 07:55:29 am »
If you're looking for something to watch on the box, get on to Youtube & search 2018 Big Buck GNCC. Particularly have a look at the Stewart Baylor lap to see how fast someone can punt a motorcycle through the trees (he's not even the fastest). The quads are worth a look as well & there are a few little crash snippets here & there. A good way to kill an hour or so.

Husqvarna / Frustrating! Any ideas?
« on: February 21, 2018, 06:58:40 am »
OK Huskyphiles, here's a curly one (hopefully it's a case of not seeing the forest for the trees).
I have a 1977 CR390 engine causing me some mental trauma in that I cannot get the shift system to go back to the neutral position after selecting a gear, it just stays put. I started with NOS cases, they virtually fall together during assembly so no misalignment there. I have had all shafts fitted with & without gears, all together & individually, all are free & move easily. I have had 3 different shift shafts, shift quadrants, shift locator & shift drums in with no success. The indent pointer & spring are also NOS. Even with just the shift shaft, locator, indent pointer & quadrant fitted & cases closed up, it just selects but does not return to the neutral position, there seems to be no tension on the spring (I've tried 3 different springs). I have done lots of these engines & even a 250 just yesterday morning without coming across this before. It's doing my head in as it's a very simple system. Any help/info much appreciated.
Cheers,
K

Competition / Pan Pacific Master Games Nov 10-11 2018
« on: January 25, 2018, 12:50:59 pm »
Entries are up for the Pan Pacific Maters Games vinduro/enduro on the Gold Coast Nov 10-11. I've done this event twice now & will be heading back again this year for sure. It's an awesome fun event with good trails to suit everyone.
Vinduro 8am-11am Sat 10/Sun 11.
Enduro 12pm-4pm Sat 10/Sun 11.
I've done both vinduro & enduro in a team of two, a bit taxing in the heat last time but hell fun & quite doable for anyone of average fitness.
Looks like a few more Mexicans will be heading north in November this time as well. Put it on your to do list.

For Sale / 1973 Husky CR250 project
« on: September 19, 2017, 11:18:03 am »
Having a bit of a cull of project bikes. 1st is a 1973 CR250 Husky, starts & runs, sounds healthy. Has all the hard to get stuff, fuel tank, seat, air filter etc, it's a tad (fairly) ugly though, been sitting many years & has an extensive lay forward shock job which puts it out of the pre '75 class. Plenty of  MK frames ex USA which would be the quickest & simplest way to get it back to pre '75 legal. Price is $1500, ph: 0417394889 or email: [email protected]
I also have a 1976 WR360 project & almost enough to build 2 x 1984 WR400's (the holy grail of Husky vinduro bikes). There's also most of a CR430 engine & 1979 WR frame. Not sure what's going or staying of that lot at the moment, I guess interest may dictate that.
Cheers,
K

For Sale / 1984/5 Husqvarna WR240
« on: March 28, 2017, 03:25:22 pm »
I have a half decent 1984/5 Husky WR240 (twin shock, liquid cooled). It's reasonably tidy & did run, although last time I started it, it stopped. I pulled the top end off & found a perfect standard bore & piston, however the rod is very tight, so it needs a rod kit at least (I would bore it .5mm over for good measure). It's way down the list of bikes to get to, so available for someone who wants a ripper, rare vinduro bike. The bike has an Australian compliance plate, is complete minus muffler, the seat has been re-done as standard except the blue section is gripper material, comes with new rear mudguard & full graphics kit. The bike is located in Bendigo, Victoria. The price is $2,500 & is non negotiable! You'll find a much, much worse one listed on ebay for a whole lot more money. Ph: 0417394889 or email: [email protected] for details.

General Discussion / Part identification
« on: March 14, 2017, 01:46:43 pm »
I have an unknown fitment TK (Kijima) porcupine cylinder head. I thought it was for CR125M but alas, no. The head stud spacings are 52mm x 69mm, the combustion chamber width is 56mm (so 125 I guess), it has a flat surface to take a head gasket with dowel holes front & rear. It's in fantastic condition with zero fin damage & I'd almost say it's never been used (no tell tale marks on plug or bolt surfaces). Be a shame not to use it on something. Don't know how to post photos on here or I would. Any help with ID much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
