Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / $400 Montesa
« on: November 08, 2013, 08:09:52 pm »
Picked this up today.   From what I can gather it is a 1978 H6 Enduro. I dont know much about Montesa bikes except that they are an Ethnic cousin of the two 1978 Bultaco Frontera,s  that  I have in my garage.   Perhaps some of you MONTY boys could tell me if the bike looks original.
I found the following numbers...Compliance plate no.1798/750   with 1978 stamped on also.
                                                         Frame no.54M06519
And on the motor behind the front sprocket..3460002W
Not exactly sure what I am going to do with it, but it is a Spanish bike and they do have a unique and distinctive look about them.
The bike seems mostly intact but hasn,t been looked after to well, with a bit of damage around the front sprocket motor casing area.    It has an Amal carby .   I have no  idea what condition the motor is in, but it is not seized.    I might strip the bike down, throw everything in a box and get the frame blasted and resprayed...thats a start.

General Discussion / Stolen check
« on: November 08, 2013, 02:12:28 pm »
How can I check online to see if a bike is stolen or not.
It keeps asking for a Vin no. Which is 17 characters long..that's through the Revs site.

And this old dirt bike bike only has 7 characters on the compliance plate?

Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / Bultaco shock refurbishment
« on: November 03, 2013, 06:55:31 pm »
Now that I have been at home for 2 months with a fractured upper left arm ( snowboarding) and am bored shitless , I have started to strip down my GM Frontera that was returned to me a few months back after being stolen....its amazing what you can do with one arm and a vice grip as a substitute for my other arm, plus lots of cursing.
I would like to get my rear shockies cleaned up a bit and look presentable when I put the bike back together.    Does anyone know of somebody in the Newcastle area who can strip them down and give em a lick of paint...? Regards lyle

Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / bultaco engines for sale
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:10:39 am »
I just went and picked up my latest Ebay buy ,a 1978 mk11 frontera in original condition ,here at Newcastle where I live ,and the bloke that I bought it from has a whole pile of bultaco engines on the floor of his garage which he wants to get rid of.
Turns out that he purchased them all a few months back from a deceased estate. He does not want to go through Ebay again as he doesn,t like computers.
I have written down a list of what he has and told him that I will be posting it for him on this website and to expect phone calls. so this is what he has......don,t ask me the years or models or anything as I don,t know, just ring him....the following are engines only and they all seem to be complete.
Alpina
Frontera..I think it,s a mk10
Pursang..possibly mk10
Matador
Lobito
Sherpa 2 off
The guys name is Warren and his phone number is 0438665319.........might be a bargain there for someone, cheers.....lyle

General Discussion / The Demise of Qantas
« on: November 04, 2011, 03:44:00 pm »
Just sitting at Perth Airport after arriving from Sydney waiting for my connecting flight up north to the mine site.  I had an interesting conversation with the person sitting next to me on the flight over ,who said that he was warned 6 months ago to use up all his Qantas frequent flyer points before it,s to late....Alan joyce "that potato eatin F..k" has given himself a 70% wage increase while bleating about how the Unions are strangling Qantas because the workers want a 9% wage increase over a 3 year period. If we are to believe all the propaganda we read in the government controlled media, then the unions are the bad guys holding the country to ransom. When the real reason why they are fighting is for the survival of Australian jobs. And it,s not just a few Baggage handlers, it,s Everyone...Pilots, Engineers included, who are fighting for survival while this Irish wanker and his cronies are outsourcing all of our jobs overseas......
