alexbrown64,  if you look at the model it says M100-27, that's for a YZ125E/D or was that M100-20?. I think you may have a misprint there but not sure.

I have ignition systems from D through to H 80-250 (YZ 400-465 use flywheels & different coils)

There is a huge carry over of coils & even though most have different part numbers they can be used on a wide number of bike as long as the coils are within the accepted limits. It is the rotor & cdi box that do the work.

As previously stated the 125 F uses 80 F complete setup. The 250F uses the same coils but a different CDI, stator & rotor

Sites like CMSNL & Partzilla are good for crossreferrencing but not when it comes to some electrical stuff sometimes
Also as stated previously, there are a lot of mistakes & leaps of faith in the so called Glymer manuals. ONLY a guide for servicing etc.

The early models used larger rotors with 100 & 500 ohm coils or thereabouts. For F & some G models it was 500 & 1440. Then some G models & H onwards went 270 & 1400 All these are rounded of but when you apply the 10+/- rule you will see 270 can be 253 to 297. 1440 can be 1336 to 1584.

If yous still need it I can go measure some of them & get back to you but trust me even genuine manuals had printing mistakes in them

As above. I am looking to buy a trail bike 500cc-650cc that has an electric start as even when young I had a devil of a time kicking my 81 XT500.

Prefer Yamaha.

Dont mind a bit of a project, probably prefer, but would like it to be complete or near as.

Many have suggest Honda NX500 also XL500

Great, thanks fellas. Doesn't have to be Yamaha, just prefer as worked on them 99% more than anything else.

As "dont" said I don't (Pardon the pun) need heaps of suspension as probably most riding will be on roads (Sealed & unsealed)

I go on a few road rides with the club on my RX1000 but I am not a road rider, never have been, & it's as heavy as all f*#k so I'm looking for something I can go bush but will sit on the speed limit, plus a little more if needed, without screaming it's head off.

So has to be 4 stroke & have an electric leg.

So I'm looking at XT600, 660, XL600 & KLR650?

Which is the lightest & by how much?

Yes, the E was essentially a D with an aluminum swing arm.

As before the barrel & head slightly different. If you need it for Pre 78 you'll need to put a D barrel on.

You could apply for an exception (As per YZ250 & 360 B's) as if you are using the D frame the centrecases offered no gain as they were identical apart from the first 3 letter prefix.

That said I doubt if you would be pulled up on it.
