Competition / Re: New Meeting idea for NSW
« on: May 10, 2015, 10:10:09 PM »
It's early days yet, naming event after Barry cockle is something that is very close to wayne smiths heart as Barry was like a brother to wayne & why wayne is so passionate about getting dargle up & running again, Barry was a regular spectator at the heaven lakes events & said to me that looks like fun & should get a vintage bike to park next to his modern bike, I spoke to Barry about a vintage/ veteran event , which is where the whole idea came from, classes have to be worked out for an even & fair for vintage & veterans alike , hope everyone is keen on the idea as a lot of the friends of barry with modern bikes are, feed back would be great????  cheers middo

Competition / Re: Pre 95 Class for NSW VMX
« on: December 12, 2013, 11:07:43 PM »
I don't think the age of the bike is the deciding factor in vmx anymore. In 1990 when vmx was up and running a 74 250 elsinore was only 16 years old but it LOOKED and rode like a vintage bike compared to a 1990 CR250.
Now a 94 CR250 might be 19 years old but it looks and performs like a modern bike and can hardly be called vintage. Sure there is a place for pre 95 and pre 2000 mx bikes but I don't think it's at your local vmx meet. I think they need their own Retro series or to be run as a support class at a modern club day..

every time I hear someone say just like a modern , I want to scream, ride a modern bike then ride a pre90 YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND

« on: December 03, 2013, 10:21:27 PM »
I  dont come on this forum very often , mainly because of above, I find it very interesting HEAVEN was founded on the 20 ys & older rule,  funny I heard the same thing 10 yrs ago with pre85 then again pre90 ??????? dont get me wrong I have bikes from pre 65, pre70 , EVO & pre 90, & race EVO & pre90, & will have a pre70 persang ready in the next few yrs, so Im not anti "OLDER BIKES", nearly everyone that races VMX do so on a bike that means something to them, either it was what their dad raced, the bike their hero raced when they were a kid , their favorite bike they raced or the bike they wanted but couldnt afford in the day, which is is the reason I race the bikes ive got + I have an EFI CRF450 as well, when I spoke to nathan he asked me what I thought about PRE95 & my answer was    "it will happen as it is a natural progression in the older bike racing cycle", so please remember why you are racing your bike as there is younger people out there that thing the same as you about pre95 , cheers middo

Bike Talk / Re: Which is the better Pre 90 bike to own?
« on: July 13, 2012, 09:06:00 PM »
all the 88 89 250s are good I have a 89 CR250 its a bullet one of the fastest bikes ive ridden even compared to my 2011 CRF450 remapped with a pipe, the 89 forks took some work but with the help of frank pons & researching  fork oils got them pretty good, Dean Burts  89 KX250 is pretty quick, they all have their pros & cons just like the current bikes id be happy with any of them so it depends what colour you like cheers middo

Tech Talk / Re: Ethanol in fuel.
« on: March 21, 2012, 12:54:53 AM »
E10 is crap I can not find anything good about it mmm maybe starting fires ???, my car looses about 100km per tank my wifes car is about 70km on E10 so its not cheaper to use, you cant use it in aircrafts, advised against use in mowers & brush cutters, honda strongly advise against using it, if you leave in the tank of a motorcycle for a few months it destroys alloy fuel taps new & old & as for saving the enviroment my car has a 70 litre tank after doing the calculations I use 3 litres more of the "BAD" stuff (petrol)to travel 600km, & as for the so called experts like dr karl whatshisname trying to explain this on ABC radio, the guy talks bullshit ::). like most government things looks good on paper but in the real world IT DONT WORK & im only a boof head with a mechanical background dealing with friends that ask me about their car, boat, mower & motorcycle problems that when they stop using E10 the problem goes away, >:(GRRRRR,  any way on a lighter note1st round retro mx was great fun no E10 lots of 2 stroke smoke mmmm ;D

General Discussion / Re: Ugly thick powdercoat
« on: February 06, 2011, 12:41:01 AM »
the only problem I have with powder coating is the damage the rock blaster does to the frame, I worked in the bike shop for many years & still help out mates with their bikes now & have seen dozens & dozens of powder coat/ sand-rock blasting jobs from many different powder coaters the damage they do can not undone even though the coating may look good the frame may be damaged , cheers middo :-\

Hi maybe able to explain the bike, I worked very closely with procycles & yamaha teams at that time, guys like dack etc usually had many cylinders ported for different power delivery etc( SX & outdoor), they were usually marked A,B,C. also all ex race bike are returned to almost standard so secrets dont get out & insurance reasons, hope this is of help , cheers middo ;)
