My first memory was at a track i think it was at Narre Warren  somewhere between Wellington rd and Heatherton rd. Bultaco's ruled Black and grey or Red they looked so cool they sounded and smelled even better. Bert was riding i know that cause my dad said gary and trevor may have but i cant remember pretty sure #8's dad may have been their as well must have been late 60's or real early 70s. thinking it may have been hallam scramble but i will never forget the real cool boots they were wearing laces with 3 buckles at the top i just had to get a bike to have a pair of those. I have always been a slave to fashion, now 40 odd years later i have to wear boots like that just to hold ankles together Ha Ha Ha!

Chris,

There was a track at Narre Warren I remember going to regularly as a kid,

#8

+1 I raced there once.

Reading all the posts, it seems that nobody remembers a one horse town just out side of Ararat called Doby, my first memory of a scramble was in 1958, my mate & I rode our pussies about ten km to watch those awesome blokes dressed in black riding their striped down road bikes in the mud, I still remember this fat bloke riding a Trumpy & fell off twice, coming of a small jump & into a left hander, there was a little bit of off camber & when the back wheel hit it loosing the back-end, I thought he would have learnt from the first time.
Then another bloke going up the hill flipped the bike & broke his collar bone,I was hooked but I knew I would never be able to afford to do it for a long time to come, but in 1969 I did start racing scrambles I couldn't afford it but I did it anyway ;D

Did anyone on this forum see Matt ride in his heyday.

Yeah, I saw him race at Christmas Hills, I was at that meeting in c grade, I've also seen him race at Beaconsfield, Pakenham, Sunbury, Wallan, all those tracks are gone now.

Being a 2 stroke man for years, after a break for 15 years got back into it again, I had a 450 KTM & then the G450X in that time I still had a soft spot for the 2 stroke, so I now I've got a 2011 KTM 300, my first ride on it will be this Saturday I can't wait ;)

Drakie will probably be pleased with the news, he likes to collect obsolete shit.
BMW has probably done you a favour Oldie as you newish bike is now a collectable.

I have ridden Drakies  Despite this lack of experiance with moderns I did notice that the forks are shit, despite him spending several hundred $$ trying to fix them.

I had my forks done with out spending a lot of $$$$$$$.....the bike goes were ever I point it, I some times want to pass riders & have to take the rough lines to get past, when I do that, I smile to my self to show how good the beemer handels ;D
