For Sale / Wrecking YZ250H. All sold.

Or maybe a big project for someone with a lot of enthusiasm...

Bike is very ugly, but matching numbers and pretty much all there.
Main things missing are seat, side covers, and ignition coil.

1. Motor. Turns over with very noisy main bearings.
LHS case has a putty repair at front of ignition housing. No damage near the sprocket. No broken/noticably bent fins on head/barrel.
Sprocket cover is there. Ignition cover is not.
Gear lever & kickstarter both there, not welded. $250. On hold.

2. Carby. $50

3. Pipe. Ugly and has bodgy replacement header. Crappy aftermarket muffler included. $5

4. Ignition. No coil. Original stator has wires cut. No idea why. Supposedly good replacement stator , CDI box and extra flywheel included. $100.

5. Forks. 43mm, angled lug type. Pretty sure they're the correct YZ-H forks (despite what I said earlier...) Axle threads in on LHS leg, two 8mm pinch bolts on RHS, one bolt for cable clamp on LHS. Some rust between triples on one leg only. SOLD.

6. Front brake. SINGLE LEADER, NOT TLS. $25 SOLD.

7. Front wheel no significant/noticeable cracks or flat spots. Flat style rim, and 83 type hub, presumably IT. Rim is date stamped 1/83. Spokes rusty but serviceable. $40

8. Rear wheel stamped 12/80. No noticeable cracks or flat spots. Spokes rusty but serviceable. $50 SOLD

9. Triples. YZ-H type with swept back bar mounts. Sexy blue paint... Seem good. $25. SOLD

10. Tank is buggered, but tap, cap and mounts available. $15/lot.

11. Airbox with filter cage. $30 SOLD

12. Swingarm. No obvious chain rash, except some on the inside next to the rear sprocket (you have to look for it) . Slider still present and intact. $40

13. Frame. Ugly. Has repair to rear (near seat mount on LHS). $40 SOLD

14. Front guard has been chewed by a dog, rear guard is some cheap crap (also chewed by dog), front number plate is crappy. $Free.

15.  Footpegs, rear brake stay, brake rod etc, just ask.

Tech Talk / XR250 sprockets.

Can anyone confirm that the rear sprockets are different between the 86-89 (drum brake) uses a different rear sprocket to the 90-94 (rear disc) models?

For Sale / Wrecking 85 KX125.

Good ~ excellent frame.
Good swing arm.
Forks have good chrome in seal area, funny rust band between triples. Missing the bolts that hold the forks together.
Tank is pretty good but top shroud bolt drilled out.
Reasonable side covers (race spec!).
Other plastics are poor condition or missing.
Front wheel is well above average. No visible cracks or dents, spokes are still reasonably shiny.

Motor needs rebuild. Power valves appear intact. Head missing?
Second bottom end with badly rusted crank, and clutch missing.
Electrics present but unknown.
Airbox is 84 model (fits but needs little extender bracket on top mount).
Second rough frame.

Parts sold:
Rear wheel.
Front brake caliper.
Chain guide.
Front brake rotor.
Front wheel.

Anyone know of a source for pair of fork boots to suit 43mm forks?

I've found genuine Kawi ones for US$130 plus post, which doesn't excite me much.

Tech Talk / Removing TCV?

Kayaba Travel Control Valve forks, as fitted to 86 CR125, and 87 YZs & KXes.

I recall reading/hearing that you can simply remove the travel control valves, but I've also heard that it's it more involved (but never with any details).

So... Any input?
I've got an 87 YZ250T, which was widely criticised for harsh forks that still bottomed easily.

For Sale / Twin shock RM80 & DS80.

Not mine. They belong to a workmate.

DS is a pretty tidy bike, apparently running well. $650.

RM was running until the front sprocket fell off due to damaged gearbox output shaft. Missing airbox, throttle assembly, and a few other bits. Has floater type DS80 seat and tank sitting on it.
Don't know what year model, but early. Frame number is RM80-41773. $200.

For Sale / Bike clear out: 04 TE510, 01 RM250, 93 Husky CR125, 85 KX125.

1. 04 Husqvarna TE510. Still has NSW road rego. Motor partially stripped down, due to clunky gearbox. Motor appears to be in very good used condition.
$1000.

2. 01 Suzuki RM250. Very tidy bike. New chain and sprockets not yet fitted. $2500.

3. 93 Husqvarna CR125. Was running well when partially pulled apart for resto. Some new parts. $1200.

4. 1985 KX125D. Fitted with KX125B2 motor, comes with correct complete 85 KX125D motor and spare 125D bottom end.
Currently fitted with KDX200 forks and swingarm to be Vinduro spec, but KX-D parts included. $1100.

All bikes in Yass, near Canberra.

Tech Talk / WP spring ID.

I've got a shock spring here, pretty sure it's a WP spring.
White in colour, blue writing on it. It's wound "clockwise up", which is unusual.

The only visible ID is the number "8404".

Anyone got a way of decoding it? I'm really only interested in knowing the spring rate.

Advertising for a mate who's got some dramas.

I know very little about it, but here it what he's told me:
Was running when parked a few years back.
Believed to be on the original piston.
Original seat cover in excellent condition.
Original tank paint.
Tyres may be original???

Here's what I can add:
It is filthy dirty and will need plastics, but it looks like it might be one of those 'diamond in the rough' bikes. There is the chance it could clean up to be a "survivor" bike, but I think it's more likely to be a great project starting point.
(Disclaimer: I've never looked at it will buyer's eyes, nor have I seen/heard it running.)

Bike is located ~15km out of Goulburn NSW.
