Honda / clutch covers 82 83 cr 250
« on: January 25, 2010, 10:01:17 am »
I wanted some facts on these covers I think these are different and a 82 cover wont fit correctly on an 83 bottom end  is the true?

I have what I think is a 82 clutch cover as it fits on a 83 bottom end but there is a difference where the water pump is,   the most forward bolt hole at the top of the water pump only bolts the water pump cover to the clutch cover and not to the cases

so is this a 82 cover? and the bottom end a 83 or vise versa

the engine # on   the case starts with ME03E 250

Honda / 450 concept bike
« on: November 08, 2009, 11:06:37 am »
To all the expert builder's out there and or forum hacks

like most Honda fans  I like the 81 450 but they have average brakes and suspension so I was thinking of using up some parts that I have and building a blended 83/450 bike to race, not put in the garage and look good like most 450r's

I have a 83  250 roller with disc front end and would like to put a 450 engine in it  (cause red is cool and the 450 would have less reciprocating mass than a 480 thus turning better) I would also try to use 450 plastics and seat.

Now this is just an idea so tear it too pieces if you must but it would look like a 450r only having better suspension/brakes and a detachable subframe (so that when I cartwheel in down the track its an easy fix).

Having the 83 arse end would allow me to run a simon's linkage and olins shock giving a great ride and the disc stopper  well to stop good

cutting off  or relocating frame brackets is easy enough too. but does any one know if 81 side panels fit onto a 83 subframe

Am i crazy?

I  have a 480 that I raced for a season and would like to park now, and like I said use up some parts and have something a little different

« on: October 27, 2009, 03:55:04 pm »
Hi

Whats a really good bottom end worth for a 81 450, all it needs is a top end and its a goer

Competition / Cooma Grass Track
« on: August 10, 2008, 06:37:48 pm »
Cooma off road club is hosting their Grass track next week end (17th Aug)

They will be doing a pre 85 class for those that have old bikes (even the real old 1970's one's too)
there will be trophies and the club rates are $50 for day membership and entry (2nd class extra)
if you need a day licence then they are about $50+

At this stage we have a grid of 40 available and if this gets full then they will split us into 2 grids

should be fun and the more the better as it could be a annual event if sucessful

more info at www.corc.org.au   (dont know if this link will work but this is the address anyway)

come up to cooma they do a great event and it wont be that cccold

Honda / 84 roller
« on: July 31, 2008, 01:45:52 pm »
here is my 84 roller which I brought from Ims6201 as a super project

this has been on going since last christmas. I brought a engine (as it didnt have one) from the US ebay and it still hasnt arrived.
A mate was importing it for me through a friend of a friend deal. My fear is that it will never arrive so I may need to start searching for a complete bottom end and electrics (got a top end).
I should know within a month or so if Im up the creek without an engine.
so if any one has bits they dont want I may need them.
I will be at ACT Heaven round 6 in 2 weeks hope to shead some light on my situation then

keep you posted

Honda / honda verse yamaha big bores
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:32:09 am »
I ve asked this question on the Yamaha page so lets start flinging some s##T
seems to be a lot of Honda big bore owners out there so whats better 480/500 Honda's or the Yamaha 465/490 not just who beat who in the last few rounds(which is still interesting), but which is more reliable and which has better technology
Magoo, Brad bet you got some good info

Yamaha / yz 465
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:01:11 pm »
looks like I will have a chance to buy a YZ 465 not exactly sure what year but I know the guy and its had a full rebuild (he is a mechanic)
it was ridden a few times and then flipped so it needs a rear guard.
not sure what condition its in but the owner is fussy (mechanically anyway)
So I know its hard to determine a price, but what do they range from?

Honda / difference between 250 and 125
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:21:36 am »
Hi guys
What is the difference between an 83 125 and 250
I know the 125 engine has the chain and kick on the "correct" side, the 125 has a single leading front shoe and the forks are smaller diameter.
but are the shocks the same as well as chassis, swing arm etc

Honda / 83 250 hard to start
« on: September 28, 2007, 10:09:08 am »
Just about finished my 83 resto tred to start it, kick kick kick kick etc finally it started  ran it for a while turned it off  and then tried to start it a few minutes later and it wont start - plug is wet and has spark
What do you think I was going to check over the timing and electrical stuff its got a fresh top end and should run.
also the kick starter gets stuck fold it away and then it fine for a bit

Honda / 82 83 cr250
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:21:45 pm »
Just got my hands on both and 82 and 83 Cr250, the 83 was running (just) water pump casing shot, engine shot (bottom end/top end) rest of the bike is complete.
The 82 I was told is mostly complete but I haven't got all of it from the previous owner(just engine and frame so far).
So which is the better or rarest one to put most of my resto effort into and should I just devcon the waterpump covers or is there a better option.
