Paul is well known in Vmx circles and has been around since its inception. What he doesn't know about Maicos isn't worth knowing. Great bloke, great bikes!

Tech Talk / Cr500 clutch issues. A testicle question
« on: July 04, 2015, 05:56:48 PM »
So why would a clutch when slipped at the start ( third gear ), would it then have a lot of free play instantly?
So you readjust ( quite a lot ) while circulating, then when it cools down you have to adjust it back down ( not enough free play ).
I have a second identical cr500 that plays the game quite well so I swapped the whole clutch assy except for the push rod, hat and ball bearing. You guessed it, it's still doing the same thing.
So something is expanding right? The push rod? The ball bearing?

General Discussion / Alloy radiators and sneaky Asians.
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:10:16 AM »
I bought a set of radiators from a 'melbourne' based seller via ebay. Only to be told the last pair were damaged so I have to wait for a set to come from China. This is those sneaky Asian pricks getting you to buy local when they are actually in China. I have emailed a second supplier and asked if they will be shipped from Melbourne as stated and just got the reply that they will be coming from China.
Lying pricks. They always want to buck the system.

News worthy I thought as a dealer putting on an event which looks to be a crowd drawer / pleaser.
Not that I know the man but I know he's a regular in here so he's passionate about bikes old and new.
Nice one mate. Hope it's a roaring success.

Honda / Year model by engine number
« on: March 04, 2014, 07:37:40 PM »
Just looked at a bike with no vin. Wanting to know if you can find out a year model by an engine number. Trying to work out if the bike is an 89 or 90 cr500.
The original rims say 6/89 so I would say it is an 89 but...

Maico / Maico ID.
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:02:26 AM »
So what the hell have I got? To give you a hint, its mid to late eighties but I can't match the numbers to anything.
Engine B1031E
Frame B1031.
They seem like the prefix before the number. No numbers after that though. The guy that stamped the numbers may have been sick that day  ::)

Thought is put it in general discussion for a wider audience. I'm yet to have a look myself as I'm on my way out the door. This was taken by Vic Freiberg.
