October 29th and 30th 2016, Griffith Motor Cycle Club is applying for an Open date to run the Australian Classic Dirt Track Masters.
All classes as per the MOM's.
 Medallions awarded to all placegetters.
It will be run in the same vein as the club ran the Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships in 2010 with Saturday night racing under lights.

It also means the club has control of the meeting to a much greater extent instead of MA

NEW DATE FOR AUSTRALIAN CLASSIC DIRT TRACK MASTERS IS SEPTEMBER 10/11. Saturday nite and Sunday racing. Previous date clashed with race up the coast apparently.
The reality is that to run an Aussie Championship, even at the Classic racing level is very expensive ie fees payable to MA and conditions they demand. Hence the last 2 failures in 2014 and 2015. Unlikely that a club will try again, numbers just don't add up.
We will stay with the MOM's, we ran the event in 2010 (that is the championship), we have a great bunch of enthusiast's in Griffith and we have the support of the community.

understand the ma conditions when it come`s to a aus championship
what I was asking is that classic is pre 75 because when you ran it in 2010 there was no split or will it creep up to pre 78 and evolution
plus to me masters means a age limit eg 35 years+

if the "masters "are run per the GCRs there is no difference between that event and the Australian Championships. One is an Australian Championship and one isn't is the only difference.
That said the comment that the Club has greater control speaks volumes. If you run the meeting to the GCRs then one meeting should run exactly the same as the next and the clubs control is dictated by the rules anyway. Will wait to see the GCRs. 2010 was a great meeting, great track so if run like that it will be an event to attend - shame it cant be an Au title.

Great news, we have secured the naming, Australian Classic Dirt Track Masters. And we currently negotiating with DAVE ALDANA (On Any Sunday fame) and PAUL COVERT (Pro Vintage Expert) to race in Griffith on September 10/11 2016.
The meeting promising to be bigger than Ben Hur!

Thanks Mark,
It will be good, as stated we will run as per the current MOM's.
Little known fact or little remembered fact is MA did not invent the  Classic Dirt Track Championship or Classic DT racing, the Clubs did.
Meetings were run in Condobolin, Wyalong, etc. In fact the first official/unofficial "championship" was run by West Wyalong in '94 as a ''MASTERS", the 500 race won by Garry O'Brien?
We will be getting back to that grass roots racing, enjoy.
Keep updated on Facebook "Australian Classic Dirt Track".

G'day Mick, Sorry to take a while to get back to you, we will include Classic and Post Classic classes, as per the MOM's. Age divisions will run, there will be races where older racers ride together. The over 50 class in pre 75 for example always has enough to make a division in the 250 and Open. The Griffith Club wants to include the younger crowd as we see them as the future of having fun racing! We are looking very hard at including modern support classes ie slider and sidecar races, really think they will add to the atmosphere.

have to bring the young bloke down - when he was a 2 year old the only thing he would watch was On Any Sunday and his favourite bit was when Dave threw it away at the Sacramento Mile; was always kind of funny, really like the music, the movie was on a constant loop at our house for a good couple of years. We still have a family laugh about that.
today in a discussion about modern MX or even a fair chunk of the old stuff I would back my 14 year old in a quiz any day. He has his eyes on my TM125 when he turns 16 - don't panic - he isn't a racer but a fitter kid I have never seen.

We have secured Dave Aldana, still running a raffle to help with expenses on Australian Classic Dirt Track on FB. It will be an autographed framed picture of the man specially for the winner! Only $5.

To my knowledge and please correct me there would be several reasons.

1.  The permit is cheaper and it is my understanding that because the club probably would want to run Classic and Post Classic. MA would want double the permit fee.
2.  If the club runs it through MNSW there is no interference from the MA or the commission.

Last two years the Australian Classic Dirt Track Championship has failed to achieve the numbers to justify the MA expenses ie around $6k for permits and the Australian Championship events require an ambulance on site (hourly rate around the $200 mark). These running costs have made the Championship unviable.
We hope to pick up the pieces and run the "Masters" in its place, our club has a good number of Classic competitors and are keen to have a ride with all the classes under the GCR's, really only a numbers game, we cannot afford the Championship but we can the "Masters".
I also feel personally that we (Classics) deserve Championship status as the number of riders entered at the failed attempts surpassed the Senior Champs. We want to run our event along the lines of the Bathurst Masters, where they get more riders and have greater status than the Australian Track Championship.

Thanks for the support fellas, our FB page "Australian Classic Dirt Track" has ran a raffle to raise monies to get David Aldana here for the Masters. Purple Dave instigated it, the prize being a autographed picture of Dave Aldana, We have been overwhelmed with support, the Jerkyls with a great offer and all the usual classic dirt track supporters. We are negotiating with several USA riders and looks very likely we will have them here.

Flogged down friday track uder water at turn 1, bog hole to get to the pits on sat morn, track pumped dry, came out awesome by 2pm, And away we go for a great arvo and night of racing, Sunday the same, some of us had shockers mechanically while others shined. Thats the plan, Griffith will make it bigger and better. Will try and address some of the riders concerns at the next meeting. Well done to all the riders that attended, without you simply not possible.
