It's a good fun track with a nice fast uphill sweeper and a tricky left hander just before that. It's fairly fast, good spectating, and plenty of room to move.

Here's some pics of an event there a few years back:

Hi freaky, the dirt track is 640 meters long, and has a 12 meter elevation, from the first left hand corner, up the hill, thru the kink and along the top straight.
 On my 74 cr125 elsinore I run a 13/ 46, and that is good.
dont over gear here, cause you want to get up the hill as fast as you can!!!!
Hope 2 see you in canberra!!!!
Supp regs for this event are going to MA for approval next week, and should be out on the website soon.
The closing date for this event will be 3 weeks prior to event, friday 15th august, no late entries after closing date,
So HOPE FULLY EVERYONE CAN GET THERE ENTRIES IN EARLY!!
We are also looking into having polo shirts made for this event , and ordering sizes and payment can be done with entries,

Anyone interested in bringing there show bikes so we can have a show and shine???

Been out of DT for a few years but want to head up for the titles but just wanted to know What is the hot set up as far as tyres go for this track?? Are there any 18's that are good enough to use or do you need to run a 19 to be competitive. And are there any front nobbies that work better than others there?

Is standard MX gearing OK?

Hi Mick, tyres for your bike would be a michelin trials tyre on the rear, and a kenda carlsbad work well on the front, as for your gearing on my bike I run 6 teeth, less than standard on the rear sprocket

Worth reminding everyone that it's now just a bit over 2 months till the 2008 Aussie Classic DT Nats here in Canberra. The club is running regular practice days and club days, two or three a month, and anyone within a few hours of here could get some valuable practice/setup time at one of these events. Check out the ACT club site for more info.

http://www.actmcc.com/DT/dtnews.htm

I think we have race days on 13 July and 3 August.

I am reminded how fast time is getting away as I am still trying to get the TM back together so's I can get it sorted in time...

Supp Regs are out! Check out the OzVMX page for details of classes of competition and to download the regs and entry form.

This is all starting to sound pretty good - heaps of classes, racing over two days, decent practice and more. It'll be bloody brilliant.

I notice on the supp regs one sore point. As i have never seen a noise meter At any SA vintage meet i have no idea what my DT 's blow they sound quiet but i may be deaf., its a freakin long way to go to find your on 102db, as per tassie how will you get round this ?

Last i spoke to David white he made the assurance NO bike would be excluded from competiton at this stage if they have made a genuine attempt to lower the levels of there machine.  However, i read you have inserted in - bold , point 24, "that any unit over 96db will be excluded".

I was considering going but if that is going to be enforced im not going to chance it and will save my money and time.

IS it possible for an interstate bike to be tested locally By some MA Rep somewhere and signed off log book style/ photographed prior to enty to ensure it can compete ?   I think if compeditors actually read this section you would have a lot less entries as its an unknow area, as was tested in TAssie most tried and all rode.

Can you give us some feedback on this so i can either fiend someone in this state in MA who has a device and knows how to use it. or failing that  ensure ALL competitors understand they will be excluded over 96db so they too can save themselve the money and the time off work.

also check to see if your FLAT TRACK FRAMED BIKES can run in the title classes as sliders cant, in the pre 75 or pre78.they have there own race up to 250 and 251-500.

Freaky, Fairburn Park in canberra has its own noise rules, the dirt track has a noise level of 100db, which has been set by the environment protection authority, in the ACT. When we have meetings where we think we may go over with noise, we get noise credits for those events.
I didnt do up the sup regs for this event, I think that is the MA noise level limit in the G.C.R s
I doubt very much that anyone would be excluded from this dirt track meeting......

will sliders be able to race in the class with pre75 mx bikes.ie hagon 250 with cr250/yz250  and 500cc hagon yamahas with tt500 yamahs in pre78.just like it was back in the 70s

dont see why not, thats what they did last year at wagga

sa is a long way to come and get knocked back on some stupid rule.sliders have been around since 1960 but in 2008 you cant use them in the classes you raced back in the 70s

Umm ....but if its in the sup regs, its the rule for the event.   you need to ammend the supp regs other wise if a winner is at 98 he can be protested out or you need to state " at any point the steward or promoter has the right to change the rules, and at the Riders breifing indicate the DB is 100Db as per EPA and has changed from the Supp regs.  I wouldnt chance it without something in writing saying its gong to be ammended to 100db and anything 250 pre 75 races in the heat on its merits.

Doubting they will check isnt going to pay the petrol home and not getting through scrutineering and saying but elsie said wont cut it.

102db cover worked for the Tassie NAtionals so it should be fine to get your supp reg up to 100db if thats the limit of the EPA. BUt id like to see it in writing before i send in a cheque.  I have a call into David white for an update on this also, if i have to ill put my hand up to do a testing course or what ever so i can use the ones here, even if i have to do it for the state.   better the devil you know right.

Still i think you need to get the 100db supp rule out there as it will increase your starters for sure, including this little black duck if i can get the bikes on a meter prior.

We dont have a noise meter in SA, sorry ill correct that we dont have anyone licensed to use the 2 sitting in MASA office, i have rung them 3 time to get a test done and its like faulty towers in there i cant understand how they keep there jobs.

A DT frame follows the same lines as the original frame, although it may be lower CG the layout is certainly positioned to the original layout ,not like the Sliders that have differant fame angle, tanks, forks etc more like a speedway bike, if anyone put a Flat track bike in with the sliders you be mental as they would both be on differant entry and exits and i though that was the whole issue over sliders ?

FREAKY
you got my point it must be in the sup regs.may elsie said sliders can ride with mx as they did in wagga and in 1974.in the sup regs they cant.it is a national event you can be excluded if you cant match supp regs noise limit.
cheers

hey im hearing you.

The promoter can change any or all things at there discretion pre race, so they should do it but we need it in writing before we spend that coin on promisethat they are,  same with the sliders thing, give me somthing i can bank.

The tassie guys made it happen, it wasnt a problem and we went,  but at least we had it in writing that they had a realistic limit that we could work too with some leeway to the GCR if after all that travel we where tipping the point where we wanted to be.

 Freaky and Jim,
Our race secretary for this event, Darylene, spoke with Ross Martin from MA today about your concerns...
The noise limit rule. apparently Tasmania got there special noise level for there meeting and no one went over the 96db rule, as there was monitoring done during the meeting?? Does anyone know who done this monitoring, was it the Tasmania club that hosted the meeting, or was it MA that sent someone over to do the monitoring????????
As apparently no one went over the limit, they arent prepared to increase the noise limit.
For the slider versus the chookies running together rule,
MA say that they have the slider class for sliders and that they dont want sliders running against chookies, and that was one off the ammendments, along with the noise limit rule ACTMCC had to make to regs before there approval.
What happens now???  maybe time for the competitors to flood the office with emails and phonecalls concerning these issues???
Or do they just get away with it????

This is yet another classic example of idiots not understanding the very heart and history of dirt track. The seperation of slider type bikes from motocross or American flat track style bikes is beyond ludicrous. This ill concieved stupidity started with Penrith club and with their influence within MNSW it was only a matter of time before it became a part of the GCRs. I'm ashamed to admit that I was once a proud president of that club. I'm so pissed off about this I want to throw up. I'm not the only person who is disgusted with this. The current 500 slider champion, who also rides a "chookie" won't be defending his title at Canberra this year. He's going to the Musclecar Masters at Eastern Creek and I think I'll join him.

Well maybe that's what there report back to HO said, but i can tell you at least one bike blow over 100db.   FBC did the niose testing on i think 5 bikes at random but you have to ask him that.  i cant even find anyone in the state to let me use the test unit and no other prick is licenced to use it, so how the fuc are you supposed to be able to work towards a GCR decibel at a national event if you cant even get a base line in your own state.  What a farse.  And yes im still waiting on a call back from the el president'e on this one in MA.  So if Tassie got a raised noise level buffer and no one reportedly went over it, would they not allow the same grace buffer to ensure the event was at capacity ?

give me some numbers to call.   if i had of know all this was coming on, i would have done wagga last year instead and then stayed in my own state from there on in, would have saved alot of breathe.

Agred. But I really don't know what to say. I think it says a lot about how the sport is administered, the amount of confusion, inconsistency and general lack of support that is being shown around the noise issue by MA. That said, the GCRs are there, the MA has shown where it stands, the Supp Regs say what they do. All I know is that I haven't seen much evidence that the rule is being enforced anywhere. I reckon it's not worth worrying about. Stick on a halfway decent muffler and come on down, I'm sure you'll be right.

That's only my opinion by the way...

You want to know something funny about the noise testing? The rules are unenforcable. It needs to be tested by a certified NCO (noise control officer). How do you become an accredited NCO? A university degree, that's how. If someone knocks you back for noise ask them for their accreditation and ride off into the sunset because MA don't actually have any. It's all bullshit.

Hallelujah Magoo. Now maybe Freaky can move on to another bloody subject. I'd swear the boy must have been frightened by a noisy motorcycle when he was little. Talk about sticking to a subject! Most of us put in the "Who gives a shit category" months ago and moved on.

Well thats why i can find one here IN masa to test it FOR ME now.  no one is licenced !

HOW does FBC get away with it then > he tested in tassie ? and i though ACt was relying on the 100db enforcement from the EPA officers

Hows this, GCRs rule 12.10.1.2,  over rules rule12.10.1.1, noise emissions all disciplines, page 91 2008 G.C.Rs, handy, fairburn park dirt track has its own government  set noise regulation at 100db@ 35meters ride by point. Set,and tested by one off these university degree,
I am confident in the noise issue not being a problem for this years nats.
being on the dirt track sports committee, I would  like to see if various sports commitees can give there recommendations for  setting these noise levels in line with there discipline.
Eg; historic road race 102db, modern bikes yeah 96db, classic mx and dirt track, need to be updated to a realistic regulation, classic mx could be 98-100 db, cant see why classic dirt track shouldnt be the same as historic road race 102db, after all there both wide open throttle
 what are your thoughts magoo?
I would reckon its pretty safe to organise your journey freaky,

I reckon the noise thing is not a problem at all. Put the best muffler you can on your bike and get out there. The biggest stuffup is the seperation of sliders and chookies. I thought it was only going to be enforced at Penrith club days but obviously the influence disease has spread. Is this some kind of sick joke? Sliders, chookies and flat trackers have raced together for decades with no hassle. The lunatics are indeed running the dirt track asylum.

Hi Guys,
Don't let the noise limit worry you,if you have a muffler on and it is repacked properly you wont have a problem,The problem is still with the VMX guys who snub at the rules and turn up with out a muffler on or a muffler that has not been packed properly. I tested in Tasmania and 90% of riders did the right thing and they were fine, however there was a few who turned up with out making any effort and had straight out pipes. I tested 25 bikes from a random draw and the bikes that tested were generly ok except about 4 who were way over and these riders were told that they would not receive any race points if there was a protest and they were also told that there noisey bikes would not be tolerated at any MA event in the future.
If you plan on coming to race with out doing the right thing you will be excluded
As a Classic Commissioner and a noise tester please put on a muffler and lets move on and enjoy the racing.

Please PM me if you want more info.

Cheers
Fatboy

Just reading the Supp Regs and am confused about the order of events. Or more exactly, what's happening with practice? I thought earlier it had been suggested that Saturday arvo would be practice/setup time with racing on Sunday, but the regs seem to indicate racing both days with only limited practice. I thought a weak point in the program at Wagga last year was the insufficient practice time. Given there is no way I will be able to get my TM sorted before the event, I am hoping for at least a few laps to get it dialed in.

Well, it's now just a few weeks until the 2008 Classic DT Championships here in Canberra. The local club have been putting a lot into this event with particular attention to making the track just right on the day. It should be a top weekend - it's a fun track to ride and spectators have a great view from the top of the circuit.

From what I've heard, entries have been pretty slow. Remember, closing date is only a week away (14th August), so you should get into gear and send that entry away right now. You can download the supp regs/entry from the DT Championships page here: http://www.ozvmx.com/whatson/08-dt-nats.htm

By the way, if you don't have a national licence and want to use a one day competition licence, you'll need to get the paperwork in asap as MA require 21 days to process. If you add that to post times and other admin overheads it means you probably need to send in your entry and application right now to avoid things going pear shaped.

Hi Graeme, glad you got your motor back, saw it on the bench at chris" s the other day,
will see you at mx on weekend, we may have a practice next weekend on dirt track.
Entries for australian classic dirt track is very poor........ A total of 22 classics so far, pretty poor, hope they flood in next week, as closing is next friday
 see you on weekend

22 eh? Not so good, but we've seen before that most of the entries turn up in the last week. Mind you, we'd be hoping for at least another 60-70 to make a decent show of it. I'd have thought with the event in Canberra we'd pick up all those Sydney DT racers, a fair swag of Victorians and a few from the central/west NSW. Still, I hope we don't get too many in the Suzuki TM125 49 year olds class, I reckon I might be in with a shot at a trophy.

C'mon guys, get those entries in, and if you know someone who's thinking of entering get on to them.

A few more of the Heaven Guys took there entries down on the weekend
but still a little low,
the Canberra guys put in a lot of effort for these  meetings on and off the track
so get them entries in this week,
( I hear the Race sec will be away in the week prior to the meeting so needs the entries in early to
get It all sorted)
camping at the track available , plenty of wood for fires, videos at night, canteen operating,
just bring you bikes and a good attitude,
Cheers

IF you have fixed that corner, that track will be kick arse, its got to be one of the longest left handers up hill know to man, which means one thing...................... full speed and no fear of dying ,  and as a bonus with the kink sorted out you wont hit that concrete wall.

THis sounding better every time. BEtter get off my arse on the weekend and find more bikes and tyres.  yeee har

Fronts are open, rear's only not be claw or knobbly, go down your local shop and buy a $40 ching shing trials, or if your a tight arse like me go through the used tyre bin and pull out any used road trial or enduro block, just give em $5 to fit it :O)

Dirt track is a sport for everyone, you can go slow or fast and without jumps you have no excuse for not going around lap after lap.  Cya there

85 entries huh? That's just great, looks like we'll be doing it. I know entries closed today, but will you be accepting late entries? If there's anyone still thinking about this, hearing that the track is being groomed to perfection should sway them to come. Can they still shoot off an entry?

Kenda tyres are a top choice for DT, I've used a few different ones over the past few years and highly recommend them. I've actually got a Kenda Trackmaster on my TM and I'm amazed at how good it works. And it's cheap as.

Hi Guys

just letting you all know that as was the case at the MX nats you will be required to have the letter ID on you bike eg pre 60 is the letter "A". I will be there as eligibility again and will not pass your bike without it correctly in place.

Numbers should be to the rule book if in doubt get the GCRs out and check.

See you there

Thanks for the heads up on that Kawasaki 211.

Cant put my hands on current GCR'S but from memory at the Dirt Track titles at Wagga last year I had to have an X as a prefix
to my number on my pre 75 bike.

Is that what you are talking about in your above post.

There will be a couple of parade laps during the opening ceremony, that fossil is welcome to participate in, as for the aces of pre 75 exhibition, I dont know the aces of pre 75, and I dont have the time to find out and organise them to this event, as there are many other pre event preparations and a small sub committee to do all the preparations,
the only ride will be the 2 parade laps for the competitors, regards Pat

Unfortunately Pat, I won't be attending and therefore covering the Nats due to a previous committment to attend the Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek with my Jag. Alan Jones is also a part of that event with his Mustang so won't be defending his titles either. It's a shame but you get these clashes from time to time.
I'm not sure of VMXKens plans either at this time.

Pat, there is a guy who attends ACT MX rounds and takes some nice pics (my RM125 crash being a fine example), maybe we can get him to come along and take some decent photos for us to use? I don't know who he is but he may be a club member...

Hi suzuki 27, we wanted a static bike display, but had no replies to our posts for anyone to show there bikes, so unfortunately not.
The program will be, sign on, scruitneering 9.00 am sat, opening ceremony and 2 parade laps around 10.30 am, 11.00 am will start 2 rounds 4.5 laps practice, then we will have a lunch break and commence 2 rounds racing on saturday afternoon,
Sunday we will be having 3 straight rounds racing, with the finals being run after the racing rounds,
all entrants will receive there final instructions for the event by end next week,
Shaping up pretty good with 110 entries for the dirt track nats
 see you in canberra

Hi suzuki43, I was going to take it up for "show & tell" only , but  no bike display this time.  I will have to get a spare chamber made up-If I smashed up that NOS one on it you would see a grown man reduced to tears. I will take up the 250T  for the Evo 250 class ; my feeble state of conditioning restricts me to one class only!

so elsie..... hi for starters. I'm coming to race in the titles with mum,dad & my bro in tow & was excited to hear that the entries have climbed into triple figures. woo hoo!
I'm fronting up in pre75 125,pre78 125, evo125(i think or we may have decided otherwise) pre 80 250 & open evo. My question is ...do U have access to class numbers (specificly the afore mentioned) & can U give me a clue as to which are going to have enough entries to B considered championship classes. Will help us plan our attack & tell us where to consentrate our best efforts....
Last year I had 2 races in a row, hadn't registered the fact & missed the 2nd of them only to discover that class was the only Champioship class I was entered in & I'd blown any chance of making the final. I would have cried but was choking on flies ........ wow thats the most flies ever in history that I've had to battle.

Smart question Devil man.  WOuld be good to get a heads up on what got 10.  might make packing the car easier, particular for spare parts............

I think any flies this year will be frozen, and thus walking and not flying, hopfully we will be back home before they even get there..............

your classes for example freaky, pre 75 250, we have split the ages 16 to 49 years, 14 competitors,
 pre 75 250 50 yrs and over, 10 competitors,
I havent seen the age differences in your class as Darylene and Jan put entries together
your 263 and over class is 16 to 59 years championship,  10 competitors

yes freaky i'm not the sharpest tool & I'll probably stuff any chance of wood by leaving the fuel tap off but I'll not miss a race that counts this time.... bit spewing about poor numbers in pre78125 & evo 125 coz my(dads) 77elsie flies & it sure makes being competative easy ...oh well. Dunno how the RN400 is going to go up against the tt500's .... jumping off the 75 & onto the big girl is going to be exciting for a couple of laps recon..... I luv excitment

52,  the pre 70 250 class ended up with 5 entries, there will be trophies 2 1st, 2nd, 3rd
The pre 70 263 and over, ended up with 6 entries, trophies as above, but not championship unfortunately,

Dennis, there will be one of kathys u beaut feeds on saturday night, for anyone that wants a feed, but as for the pre dinner bookings I think she received 1 phone call, so now she dosnt know how much to cook,
I told her to cook heaps and I will take it home in tupperware containers for the freezer, no probs there with her cooking, so we will be right for a feed and dvd,s dennis,
You still right for scruitineering, I can help, as with Dave Morgan, and 211 is eligibility also,.
We need marshals desperately, struggling for people to raise there hands, I guess they think the fairys will do it

Elsie 125, Pre 70 class nearly always runs all in.By the time DNS and breakdowns you end up with 2 or 3 bikes trying to make a race of it.Wagga ran Pre 65 and Pre 70 all in.Maybe a check with riders.

As the pre 70 class seems non goer for a championship class, is it in bad taste to ride square barrel Maico in pre 75 250 in the championship class and ride in pre 70 class with same bike to get numbers up as square barel qualifies in both classes as it is not a championship class in pre 70, more rides the merrier or will i run into resistance, MOMS says its a qualifier and 5 hour drive would like to ride as much as possible ???

yes , it was on my list of things to do, to tell you i was looking for food so put the freak down as a starter.

I also got state level 2 creds for all officals licences but not national so cant help ya scruitineering etc unless its as a helper or what ever they calls it as, alas too many bikes , so dont have room for a flaggy either, unless i can hire one down your main street by the hour ?  she might even do a show after the video for us ;op or is that only a sydney thing ?

Mark, the pre 78 263 and over is a championship class,

Freaky, We can organise you a dancin girl for after dinner and dvd entertainment, remember canberra is the porn capital of aus, so there is a wide variety to choose from,   you may enjoy the peep shows, where you sit in a little room with a handful of 2 dollar coins watching girls slip all sorts of things in all sorts of places, they even supply you tissues!!!!

On a more serious note, if you check out  www.actmcc.com  club news there is  the aussie dirt track nats site where there is a full list competitors, classes, program events and final instructions.
Think Darylene had a late night on final instructions and left out 5 championship classes as there are 10.
Will get onto her about that this morning.
 Hope this helps

Can someone clear up a question on fuel allowed. Is it the case that anything pre-75 can run methanol etc and post-75 are suppose to use RON98 only?. I have an EVO 250,and from the MA book it looks like 98 is the best I can run.  Is this the case?. Or can I run Avgas or BP100 for example? Thanks.

Fuel guys for the event, pretty sure all bikes can run methanol, avgas, bp 100, not aware of any restrictions.

Avgas is only available in 200 litre drums as they stopped filling our 20 litre drums at the airport, so best of you bring your own avgas.

Methanol, and BP100 is available in 20 litre drums through our club member Rob Thompson, who owns our local castrol, BP depot in Queanbeyan, his daughter is riding in the support events at nats and will be trackside

anyone need any methanol, or BP 100 can pre order from Thommo, and he can bring it to the track, he can be contacted on  0262971653.

final instructions open up this end, dont no whats goin on your end freaky

well the kid werent to bright. but i think it was 100RC in a 20 ltr drum, sounded a bit dear to me last time i saw it was $2.10 so maybe there is a deposit on the drum, even methonal should be around $2 a litre i would have thought.

with the price of potatoes at the moment might be a good time to make a still up and start brewing.

I'm sure the weekend will go off just great, and all of us who get to ride owe you a huge vote of thanks. Dennis, I doubt VMX mag will be covering it directly. I don't think anyone has approached them and they probably aren't in the business of chasing up every event that's on. I suggested that I could write something and take some photos and we've got plenty of other people there who can take good pics. I will email Ken and see how that sounds to him and just check whether or not they are coming over. But usually with the media you have to actually invite them and even cover their admission costs and such like, unless it's a huge event that it pays them to attend.

I am curious about the DVD though - is it planned to produce one?

i have a copy of every vmx mag printed so far and am starting to get dissapointed at the lack of coverage of dirt track events ,the dirt track scene has changed dramatically from the years when it was really big and has settled back to the old timers with there classic bikes to revitalise the sport to the stage where we now see a good roll up to dirt meetings, largely i think because the old stagers have brought there offspring with them and encouraged them to ride their modern bikes on the dirt other than trails and motor cross tracks.   so i hope we can see the current upsurge of this branch of the sport recognised better in the vmx mag.i have noticed a bit from the american dirt track scene from time to time which is great. any one who has been to recent st.george /penrith joint meetings and has seen a very full program knows how the dirt track scene is thriving here.

Hi lads,

I just had a word to Ken of VMX Mag - he's happy to cover ANY classic dirt bike event. So if Graeme would like write the words, I'll take as many photos as I can. Apparently most of my races are back to back, so I should be able to get some shots. Except the Pre 65 Open, Pre 75 250 and Pre 78 Open class - someone elsewill have to look after those classes... and maybe the one after the Pre 78 Open, I may be too buggered to get the next couple of races after that. ::)

Cheers,

Got ya down for dinner Matcho Mick,
Thanks for being able to take photos Mark, and be great if you can write a story of the event thanks Graeme,
Be nice 2 have more magazine coverage in dirt track, our sport would be greatful for it, I have heard there is huge numbers up at nepean, thats great, be good to run an interclub meeting with you guys Wally,
what better way to spend fathers day, than dirt track racing with ya mates!!

I wouldn't be to hard on the VMX crew,

l
Last years titles were covered ,and they were at Nepean for the pre75 event a couple of weeks ago, as well as the first charity pre 75 that was on the same weekend as the CMX nats in WA,

I don't think you can expect them to do club events as they are a international mag,
but it would be interesting to see some articles on the basically "Australia only" dirt track sliders
;D(bikes derived from speedway bikes but to be able to turn right as well) ;D
not a lot known about these out side the circle.

sorry back to topic

Noel

I may be wrong, but I think back in the early 80s the motocross framed bikes that were being run on dirt tracks were pretty unique too. They were very similar to the sorts of things being run in the Superbikers and later Super Motard races, being MX bikes lowered with fat rims and wet weather road racing tyres. I remember some trick bikes at the Nepean 6-Hour and Maryborough 3-hour events, with big tanks, trick pipes and ignitions, twin front disks and so on.

Anyways, back on topic, I was looking through the entry list and noted that in Pre 75 125, there are about 18 entries. 16 are on CR125s. Then there's me on a TM125. What does everyone else know that I seem to be ignorant of?  ;D

I'll repoprt back on whether I actually beat any of them...

Ok , for you metanol burners who may need fuel at the nats, 20 litre drums are available along with BP100, for $55.00 each, if anyone need any let me no and I will get our local  member to bring them along to dirt track nats,
Dont no the price others pay but seems reasonable compared to my elf bfk-07 at $6.50 per litre

bp 100 is not methanol fuel it`s a lead based fuel it maybe not be allowed in the the gcr`s and may require a ma fuel log book.the elf fuel is homologated.
have a look at gcr`s MOMS 18.3.0.1 then12.9.5.1 and THE GOD RULE 12.1.1.3
sorry about quoting rules but that is what govern`s the sport and i would hate to see someone be protested.
non folding gear tip levers are ok
mnsw classic dirt sports committee was asked this question at the penrith pre 75 meeting and forwarded it on to ma,the reply back from a ross martin was that they are not mandatory.
the meeting has a good scruitneer very experience in historic racing.
remender that they are old bikes with old blokes having good old fun!!!

Hi Noel, the pits will be bikes only, and that area on the map are all the trees around  the start area, the camping is the flat area at the top right, of the picture, the campers car and campsite will be all together, the daily competitors  cars and trailers will be parking to the lft of the tree at the hairpin corner and in the area behind the pit fence, which is the group of trees above the start area.
The gates will be open from 10.00 am friday morning and we will be there to show the campers were to park, and set up there area, cheers Pat

For some reason the periods seems back to back .  which i think is weird as most folk have the same period differant capacity so i thought your go pre then post , pre then post to give some room between races if your in both.   Any way is the pre 75 250 still in heats ? and if so can we pick the heat ? or would it be smarter to go Heat1 all under 39's and then H2 over 39 as is the champ round classification and how im assuming its going to be done, but i had to ask.  :P

Also any forum guys going want a free ticket ?  Based on the programe im going to need a strapper to take one bike to the line and hold the other in the pre 75 gig.

Would even take you sexy daughters as a last resort, but any help appreciated and as i said i can give you the other ticket you get at sign in.

Cold might JUst means you ll have to snuggle up to your old lady.......... heh hilly.

Big big kudos to all those involved in the running of this event. Fantastic weekends racing. No excuses for not having a great time as
everyone involved really put out.

Congrats also to Track curator, you done real good.

And those guys that travelled from interstate, your efforts are appreciated and went a long way to adding to the flavour of this event.

Pat, any idea when supp regs will be available for 2009 Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships at Fairburn Park. Reckon you'd get 100 plus starters tomorrow.

Yep, the 2008 Classic Dirt Track Championships were a complete success. Congratulations to the ACTMCC, especially the organising committee and a host of helpers. From the smooth organisation to the welcoming smiling faces, from the showbag of goodies at sign on to the never flagging canteen workers and top food, from the brilliant track to the just as brilliant weather, and finally to a fantastic two days of racing, it was an event to set the standard.

I had a top weekend, checking out the racing, amazing bikes, meeting new faces and generally having a good timje. The highlight for me was spending as much time as I could up by the canteen with its panoramic view of the track, watching the stunning display put on by the guys on the old 4-bangers - XT/TT/XL500s! Man those guys could ride and the deep throbbing tones of those exhausts was magic.

But really everyone put on a spectacle - the few old old bikes out there going faster than is decent for such things, the boys on the sliders, any number of old 2-strokes ripping up the track, the brilliant dicing in the Evo classes, and of course the guys on the moderns who showed us that dirt track action is still as hot as ever.

What a weekend. The only downer for me was that family commitments on Sunday arvo combined with the racing schedule falling a little behind meant I couldn't stay for the finals. I'm sure they were pretty damn good to watch though.

Here's a few photos I managed to take between races.

Sensational weekend, thanks to the club, thanks to all the guys there who made it a great weekend of racing. Wish it was on next weekend but have a few engine rebuilds!!

The KX450 dumped the gear box, the AJS the primary drive, the 76 250 ran like a clock all weekend.

Good catching up with all you guys as well

Yeah Tim you are on the money 550 4 they were a bit outgunned against the big Kwaka's but they were having go as for lana as a Throttle jockey i think i would be a little to much ballast on the side plus she is a nutter on the gas .

No idea mick, I phoned up MA to ask about putting a submission in for it to be held at Griffith NSW in 2009 & Sam from MA emailed me back telling me that Hunter Valley Club & another club had lodged a submission when they were due back in March. Hunter Valley Motor Cycle Club  have been successful with their application.Might have to pack the fishin rod.  ???
