I can`t wait to race this thing as it has an Ohlins 360 top end on it and should really get up and go, this year i only managed to do 1 race meeting which is just bullshit. Plan is to be at every Viper round in 2011 no matter what is going on at work, that shit will still be there on the Monday.

I like it. Especially with the era seat cover. Not that its necessarily good taste but its of the era which is what I like about it.

yep, don't touch that bike, it may not be to everyone's taste, but it's a piece of history.

As for me, I'll be transferring the PE175 engine into the rm125t frame with 250 forks/triples and airshox. The yz125f has had the coils rewound (again ::) ) so it's ready to go, and the yz125c/x isn't too far off either. Then there's the BSA but that'll be towards the end of the year if I'm lucky.

And the 97 KTM300 I picked up off Tony Tent Peg should be a goer by Christmas, hopefully there'll be a pre-2000 class up here next year.

Back in the Very late 80's early 90's Ohlins though Yamaha (the parent company at the time) marketed a 360cc kit for YZ250's to help them keep up with the rest of the Jap bikes.  ;)

the kit from memory had a piston, barrell and head and well as a small metronome to tune them.  :D

Spot on Hoony,
the kit also uses a longer conrod in the 250 crank with only a small amount of case machining required, back in the day the racers with the right contacts got hold of these kits and left our 250`s for dead. As they say ya can`t beat cubes, can`t wait to try it.  Peter.

i didn't know about the longer rod, do you need to off set the crankpin (stroke it) as well then ?

also i didn't get a bite with my comments .....Bugger.

Sorry Hoony,
i must be getting slower in the head, i did read your comments and didn`t even twig you were hanging shite and being a smartarse. Oh well looks like the crankcase jokes are back on again.

In regard to the longer conrod it fits the 250 crank and uses a YZ 400 F piston etc, the barrel is taller to accomodate this.

YZ 360 kit.

Guys my 2 cents worth,

I bought a new ISDE YZ250WR in 1992 I was lucky enough to pick up a O.S riders new bike when the 6day finished. I raced it for a year in State X Country and Enduro X rounds, and in 1993 Jason Cater put me onto to Cramer regarding an Ohlins 360 kit.
Had it installed ready for the 1993 season the kit made good power but was hard to jet and if I didnt run Avgas it would ping (something to keep in mind) Anyway in 1994 i bought a new WR360 Husky the real deal.

G`day Hoony,
i have only got as far as finishing the bottom end freshen up, i have all the other parts ready to bolt on but just can`t find the time at the moment to complete it.

As per normal work is just taking up all the play time which sucks.   Peter.
