Other Makes (CanAms, Coopers, etc) / Canam 400 piston
« on: February 07, 2024, 04:03:17 PM »
Anyone out there got a 400 Canam Rotax piston they could measure for us? Need to know the compression height and also a center to center conrod length would be handy as well. The piston in the one I'm looking at is out of a Polaris ATV and I suspect it isn't correct as it sticks out the top of the barrel by almost 2mm.

Suzuki / TS250 plated bore.
« on: November 24, 2022, 02:40:18 PM »
Got a mystery barrel here from a TS250 that is plated from the factory. Any idea on what year it would be so we can track down a piston. It has 2 extra transfer ports compared to most I've seen and would need a piston with the ring pegs further out than an iron bore version. The owner thinks it is a 1976 model.

Yamaha / YZ125G (and others) Billet clutch basket.
« on: June 03, 2022, 11:30:02 AM »
Is there any interest in Billet clutch baskets for the YZ125G?
I was talked into making a billet basket for a friends YZ125G as they are not easy to find anymore. Against my better judgement I thought I would but to make things more economical I made two. One is know for sale and potentially I could more if there is enough of a demand. They are made entirely using manual machines as I don't have any CNC gear.
I'm looking for $400 including 6 new machined steel rivets.
The original hub has "1W1-00-Y-1" cast into to it but from I what I have seen the 1W1 is the important bit.
I've tried to add a couple of photos but not sure if it will work.
Didn't seem to work so I added the links.

General Discussion / Business name Scam
« on: February 18, 2022, 05:03:43 PM »
Just thought I'd let those that have business names registered that there is a bit of a scam going on. A company called "Registry Australia" have been sending out letters to business name holder that are close to being due for renewal with a type of invoice. Apparently they do renew your business name but they charge more than double what it is worth. The normal for 3 years is $88.00 but they charge $190.00 and apparently they claim to not be breaking the law to charge a few for being so helpful. I thought the was something a bit fishy but had already clicked the Bpay send and I'm trying to get it stopped. I rang the contact number and asked for the invoice to be cancelled which they claimed they would do but only after the payment has gone through. I also called my bank straight away to cancel the payment but I could be hit with a fee. I keep you posted.

PS. Don't catch Covid it's not much fun.

CZ / CZ center stand
« on: September 03, 2020, 11:23:00 AM »
Doing a bit of a shed cleanup and came across this NOS center stand that after a bit of a search think it's from an early 70's CZ Enduro machine.
Open to reasonable offers.

I've got a NOS Maico GS ignition cover to suit up to 1977 models. It fits over the external rotor Bosch ignitions but not the points mag.
Still not sure on a price but if anyone is interested I can send photos and I'm open to reasonable offers.

Yamaha / YZ465/490 conrod
« on: August 09, 2020, 03:57:28 PM »
Don't recall if I've talked regarding this before but was playing with a couple of Maico rods recently that are advertised as being replacements but are slightly different in length.
The YZ465 rods available from Mitaka in the UK are advertised as 137mm center to center but the correct length for a YZ big-bore is 137.5mm. All other dimensions are correct and it would be a relatively simple job to machine .5mm off the base flange.

Maico / Maico kick start alternative

I see talk regarding YZ465 kickstarter and it got me thinking if anyone had come across an alternative for a Maico kickstarter.

General Discussion / 1974 Speedos
« on: July 20, 2019, 10:15:46 AM »
A bit of a trivia question for those that were around in 1974. When did speedos go from MPH to KPH in Australia ?
I thought that in 74 they were MPH and most went to KPH in 75.

Anyone know what the cost would be to get a bike from around Newcastle to Brisbane.
Other option would be taken to the Classic nats at Harrisville.

Maico / Maico 400 Mega 2, whats it worth.
« on: June 11, 2018, 09:53:02 AM »
I've been thinking of selling my 81 400 Mega 2 but have no idea what it's worth.
A few details about the bike. Frame is an 81 250 mx, motor 81 400 with GS ignition and 40mm Bing, also has just had a new sleeve and stock Mahle piston fitted as well as a new rod and main bearings.
It has near new tyres fitted to original wheels with original gold rims, forks are original with good chrome, shocks are Marzocchi and work quite well.
So I'd describe the bike as very original ready to race bike but it is not a bling covered show bike.
I'll try and post a couple of photos from Google.

« on: July 21, 2017, 10:56:23 AM »
Anyone got a water cooled head to suit a CR125 1976/77 or earlier would fit as well.
Have a classic road racer customer that thinks he needs to go with water cooling.

General Discussion / Seat restoration/foam
« on: January 30, 2017, 10:19:54 PM »
Anyone know a good source for seat foam. In the past tried high density foam from Clarke rubber but it's to soft.
Looking at a cover / foam kit from US but it's about $300 to get here.
What are the good auto upholsterers charging to make a cover and cut foam to suit.

General Discussion / Qld Rego
« on: December 20, 2016, 11:03:05 AM »
Anyone know if both engine and frame numbers are used for bike rego in Qld. I'm thinking of restoring my old RT3 Yamaha and getting it rego-ed again but the original frame is badly rusted, so I was going to use a DT1F frame but don't want any problems with rego.
