« on: January 23, 2022, 02:28:43 PM »
Afternoon all, a mate is restoring his DT1 and the spiral clutch actuator is cracked , he would like to find a replacement or a solution. From memory someone was making them from bronze, or a possible link to a site please.
Cheers.

Yamaha / Yamaha is daddy racer sticker.
« on: April 24, 2018, 09:11:38 PM »
Argument between my mates, back in the day there were stickers, YAMAHA IS DADDY RACER.
They were a reflective silver colour and black print . This was during the days of us running our DT 400 D and E models.
I say yes some say no , google is no help.
True or false, and I would love a picture of one.
Thanks.

Not VMX but, this fellow has passed away yesterday, and a former road racer with a special ability.
Years ago he suffered the loss of an arm and a leg in a bike accident , that didn’t stop him from racing.

He competed and got permission of a special number 1/2, or half. Was going to Le Mans and the TT this year.  A talented man.
Check out his page on Facebook.
Vale.

General Discussion / ASBESTOS and imported bikes.
« on: June 30, 2017, 08:22:03 PM »
A mate has told me of the latest vehicle import rules, both bikes and cars. So cars are being checked for gaskets, brakes, underbody rust/ noise coatings and even the sealant used on windscreens. One bloke has scrapped a car that got through , it was the only way out.The fine is three times the cost of the car or bike -- OR $180,000 , whatever is greater for an individual. A business could be up for $900,000. It can be done with samples being tested by NATA registered labs etc in AUST, but time and money kicks in. I reckon it is too much of a risk and I have imported a bike a few years back from the USA.

Old bike AUST magazine has an article about one of the best ever riders from back in the 60's Matt Daley. He has found and restored his 1967 Husqvarna 250 Cross bike .This thing is a very rare true factory machine, It looks fantastic .

Matt looks like he could still go around at speed also, worth a read .

Evening all, went today and to any dirt bike true believer of any brand , this may be your only chance to see in the flesh right up close, no ropes ;the original  Kenny Roberts TZ 750 V4 two stroke 1975 Yamaha Flattracker. Pure art.

Located just outside in the Yamaha Marque along with the very first YZ 250 ex S Gall.

The Japs , all of the big three are there except Honda, the only Honda a CBR 1000 is available to win for $5 in aid of the Steven Walter cancer fund. He was an ex Oyster bay rider who died from Leukemia about 15 years ago, it could be yours by Sunday 4pm. Delivered to you Aust wide by Big Red and donated by them as well like every year.

This is all part of the Snowy ride deal which most may know about, all money to kids cancer, all volunteer ticket sellers( my mates) who keep whacking me every year, all good.
I was told a bloke came by today laid down $200 and said give me the tickets and fill out the butts, very generous bloke!!

Oz VMX magazine are there as well with a number of bikes, but nothing beats King Kenny.

Three classes, therefore 9 top three placings .Seven out of the nine won by Spanish riders, 77.777 per cent saturation . It's going to be a while before any one knocks these blokes over.

Lorenzo , a tough tenacious rider never gives in and Marquez beginning his reign.
