Montesa engine ID question.
« on: February 25, 2015, 09:29:47 PM »
Picked up a 250 montesa engine at the Ballarat swap meet #73M8587. I know it's a Cappra but what year ? If I find the year I should be able to source what the ratios are.( I'm considering a long term road race project).
Thanks Terry.

73M is a 250 Cappra engine Terry, but unfortunately I don't know what year all the following digits make it :(
Good luck.
"light weight, and it works great"  :)

Hi Terry

Your engine is from a early 1975 Cappra 250 V-75.
Hope that helps.

Regards Patrick.

The cylinder to have is from the 1976 VA 250. Bigger exhaust port, (no bridge) much larger intake. Transmission ratio's were the same on all VR's.
