I don't know how true it is but apparently in the 40's & 50's they made L/H throttle Harleys & Indians for the Police so they could still shoot right handed.
Anybody know if this is fair dinkum or just another Harley myth?

Yes correct, ive seen it on the army models too, and not only do they have the throttle on the left they have it so accelerating is when your roll the throttle FORWARD  :o Combine that with hand gear change and foot operated clutch and they become a bit tricky to ride. When i did an Indian i put the throttle on the right operating normally and made the left grip the distributor advance.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

God leave it to a BMW rider, they are as dull as their bikes, I have ridden a couple and you would get more of a thrill out of a Quakers meeting. Still they usually do come with luggage big enough for your lawn bowls.  :o

I owned a Beemer once. It was so effecient it was boring.  The hardest part was staying awake while riding it.  Talk about sensory deprivation, it was weird, almost like fying.  I could feel and hear the wind but nothing else.

Not exactly, the V Rod has nothing in common except the basic layout of the VR1000, it is much larger engine and I am not really sure what the MoCo were thinking, my guess is the V Rod would end up a platform for a larger engine for the big twins.

Except Harley riders won't accept water cooling.

Harley out sourced development to Porsche related engineering studio as it was cheaper... the VR1000 was built to run US Superbikes, twins races which it did quite decently but wasn't a Ducati and didn't have the same $$$$$ race program.

Buell had a good race bike XBRR that could run pretty hard in twins racing and a road version that would have been cool. Like CCM with B50 motor, there was not much left of the original Harley sportster engine, Buell improved it a lot.

But Harley would not allow production as it had full fairing, like the VR1000 Harley believed that full fairings pitched their bikes straight at the Japanese makers, so that's why Buells have weird half fairings

Buells demise started with the Buell blast which the MoCo pushed them to build.
