Thanks Berwick. She managed to get a lot of photos of guys doing a wheelie after hitting the hump on the finish line.

I'm afraid I don't get the "Who is Cockle" poster?

Had a great day at Dargle yesterday. My first motoX in 18 years. Boy am I slow  :P But still had a heap of fun. Lots of great bikes and everyone was very friendly.

My wife took 1148 photos. Put a few up in the album below.

Had an absolutely great day doing some dirt track for the first time! Can't wait to do some more.

Album here of some shots we got:

I'll just share the older bikes here.

My 85 YZ250. I had a flat halfway through the day but still had a great time.

My mates 89 RM250.

This thing was nasty! Sounded great at full scream.

Foto Forum / Old Gear?
« on: July 03, 2016, 04:59:32 PM »
Anyone use their original old gear or old gear in general?

I have a full compliment of modern gear, but found some of my old gear buried in the shed. I'm amazed it has survived all these years.

I can't find the Scott mask and goggles or chest protector anywhere and the old open face helmet has been eaten out by rats but the Rossis, leather pants and gloves are still usuable.

It all still fits. Found my old padded jersey in a chest in the back room. I always wanted a pair of Alpinestar Hi Points and found a pair in my size, in good condition and not costing a fortune a few weeks ago!

Cool! Welcome to the forum and to the world of restoring and riding old bikes.

I did a fair bit of riding up your way when I was a newsouthwelshman. Sunny corner is trail riders heaven....talk about some snotty hill climbs!
Oberon natural terrain MX track would be the fastest and longest MX track I've had the pleasure to race on.....but the roost was something akin to riding in a meteor shower until the pack sorted itself out.
Did an Enduro out at Dark Corner and that is the only time I've ever ridden in snow. Talk about fun on a dirtbike.
Have fun with the YZ. Old Yamaha MX'ers are probably the easiest out of the big four to get parts for.

Yep it's a great area for riding. Straight out my back gate and we are into the forest. I did a grass track at Oberon back in the 90s and it was the coldest and most miserable ride I have ever done.

You could have come and had a play with Heaven VMX meeting today at the Mt Panorama MX track. What a great days racing we had

A mate and I came up and watched it, chatted to a few guys and I helped push someones bike up the pit entry for them  ;D Looked like a great day, wish I had entered but I still have some work to do to the YZ before it is ready for motocross. Planning on entering for Dargle in July though.

Got some quick photos on my phone.

I may have a rear hub and maybe a guard

Hi Ekka. Thanks but I am after a complete rear wheel to set up with a dirt track tyre so I can swap between it and a knobbie.

I'd be interested in seeing the rear guard though.

Thanks

Rod

Thanks mate, I'll save those ones. I was hoping to buy here in Australia though.

No that wasn't me at Kowen, though it sounds like an interesting story!

It lives!!!! A work in progress of course.

Setting it up to do some dirt track next weekend! Excited!!!

The old school Fox jersey is mine from the early '90s. I found it buried in a box. Still fits (Y)
