I saw him jump at Newcastle. 15 buses I think. My uncled worked and travelled with him. YZ250f's and YZ250G's from memory. There is a mock up bike similiar to what he used at the museum at Taree ( Nabiac) NSW

i saw Buggins as a 14 year old, made a big impression on me, so much so that for a year i practised Mono's whenever i could to be just like Dale as i thought he was very cool standing on the seat while pulling a mono.

I was exactly the same Hoony - as a 10 year old. I saw him in Mildura and then at the Royal Melbourne Show...  I soooo wanted to be him !  ;D

It was a sad waste the way it all ended.

If you want to feel the story?

Go to an hour and a half north of Newcastle to the Nabiac Museum. They have dale's capes and helmets etc, arranged in the best tribute to him anyone could imagine.

Heads up: There is a hell of a lot to see there. I go there once every year. A car load of friends, get there at 10 or 11am, get a pass-out to go to the local pub for lunch, only have a Tee-Bone only, best that any cattle have ever made :P. Then off course its back to the museum to see the rest of the six hundred or so ever-changing displayed bikes.

Hi hope this isn't hijacking but these shots are taken at Calder Park back in the early 80s late 70s by my Dad

Close up of Johnny Fogwell  on xl500

And finally the Crash

Johnny Fogwell now has a restaurant in Caloundra these days and is still in good shape

That's Johnny Fogwell the Qld stuntman. Carl Fogerty was World Superbike champ and not likely to be jumping cars on a XL500.. :)

Hoony I didn't know Gary Wells came out here. Wasn't he seriously injured in a jump at Caesars Palace that ended his career?

not sure John, he was great when out here, he rode his CR250 sitting backwards and pulled some very long mono's at speed through all the gears, fogwell too was good, i have the video when he over jumped the landing ramp collapsing his front wheel. in hindsight i think the big fourstroke was not the best choice for jumping compared to the CR

TT250G Really Twisty, not many came into the country as the first model had not compliance of lights at all. easy bike to mono, but shit that seat was wide at the back..
