Title: Queensland Titles 25th - 26th August
Post by: jackiemac on July 19, 2012, 05:18:05 PM
What a fantastic calendar Qld has been fortunate to have this year, Double the Dirt this weekend, Conondale Classic 4th / 5th August, and to top off the end of August we have the Queensland titles with a difference!
This year they will be at our Harrisville track, for those of you who have never ridden this track, its awesome! and for those of you who have, then you know what I mean :) the owner of the property Greg Mitchell has a fantastic spot, and has put lots of time and effort into creating one hell of a track, which Iam sure, you will all be more than happy with :) Food will be available and there will be a pig on the spit for dinner, of course there will be the big bon fire, and heaps of friendly people and welcoming smiles. I will keep you all udated, so stay tuned and

Keep Smiling :)

Is there 2 classes for sidecars? We have enough pre75s to make a class I think (poss 4) and might get 15 or 16 all up.

Too many big meets to close together Jackie... Aussie Champs, Double the dirt, Conondale Classic, QLD titles....all 2 day events....then we have coming up CD9, Mr Vintage Motocross and the Masters Games.....not to mention the remaining club days for QVMX and BMCC....all the piggybanks are running dry. We are spoilt in SEQ.

What a pity after the Nats support for the earlier classes of pre60 & pre65, no sign in the Qld titles.  We've got to support these early classes, at least ask for nominations.  If insufficient nominations,  call them a support class & combine with another race, but after the sucess of pre60, pre65 250 & pre65 unlimited at the Aust titles in attracting both riders and spectators, we can't give up now.
The top end has been set at pre78, lets work back to encourage all possible classes.  A good start would be to provide a pre65 unlimited, and take it from there.

Have you all read the supp regs, need 10 bikes to make a class and only for something to hang around your neck, and if less and above six you get a certificate. Less than six nothing. $90 a head plus extra per bike. I believe this is poor for a title event at least the club should have put up trophies for the money they are charging people. Won’t even know till the day if you are racing for a medallion/placemat/ or bragging rights (nothing).  ;)

Not only that Foxy, its ment to be a title event and being split over two days, with party saturday night, feels more like some crazy social  event, not a QLD title.

If its to run over two days saturday for the title, then party and sunday fun day, noveilty races etc.

That makes more sence Graham...and Vandy, your living in a dream world...I was merely stating an opinion as to why entry numbers where low....you only do a few of the events that are on and beleive it or not we have had quite a run this year....see you there.

It would be good if this discussion was held during club meetings however I shall address the party so called on Saturday night. The owner of the track Greg suggested the roast meal rather than people going to the pub at nearby towns to eat. As far as calling it a party that's up to the individual if they don't want to race the next day.  I look forward to other matters being tabled at our next meeting for discussion and shall contact foxy personally.
Those riders who will not be attending are going to miss out on one of the best prepared and vintage friendly tracks in Eastern Australia. I can ride both pre 75 and EVO on the same track all meeting with a challenge for all eras and still have big jumps and huge berms that are CMX friendly.

The Buzzard and me were in BUT dissapointingly beuracracy has scuppered the plans  ::) a big thankyou to Jackiemac and the ladies for helping us apply for one event licences but it aint gonna happen  :'(

Inspite of racing in Australia a number of times including National and State titles NOW its not possible without drama  ::)

Bottom line we cannot get one event licences for this event as we do not live in Australia .

We cant get full MA licences as we dont live in Australia

We could get MNZ full licences (personally will never happen all the time theres a hole in my arse , i would rather donate the fee to the united muslim front ) and the purchase the international insurance required (from MNZ at a price they quote , last time was $300.00 for one event )

Ironicly we could have ridden the Connondale classic on a (one event licence as its a club day ) but personal circumstances wouldn;t allow  :(

To clarify we are not looking for free medical or accident care or free repatriation should we tip over while at the event .We both have insurance that covers all those things , all we want to do is come and race at an event we have raced before and enjoyed and podiumed  ;)

For the cost of going through the MNZ channels we could fly first class and hire the penthouse at the Gold coast Hilton for the week  ::)

Im sure the event will be a huge succsess and again thanks to all those who tried to make it possible  :)

I suppose we are spoiled this side of the ditch with our lack of beurachracy ( bang in a few pegs and go racing ) We always enjoy racing (and riding CD events ) in Aussie and will hopefully  sort out a solution for future events  :)

The Buzzard has been dealing with a bloke at MQ and a lady at MA , for the record the lady at MA was very informative and helpfull  while the bloke at MQ apparantly is recovering from a wrist injury sustained while watching the mens wrestling at the olympics  ;)

Thanks chaps  ;D it will be a great event as they always are  8) thats why we want in  ;D as nice as it is racing here theres no substitute for the bigger fields and closer racing that we always get over there  ;D

And of course the great hospitality and all the good bastards  8)

Before somone tells me im anti rules again  ::) let me clarify that is not the case , i think your structured class system is better than what we have over here , im just pissed because the paperwork wont work this time  :'(

That sucks....

So let me get this straight.  Someone from WA (for example only) can come over to Queensland for the event, and get a MQ one day licence even though they don't live here in Qld.

And yet Bill, on a NZ Passport which grants him complete access to Australia to work, holiday, ferret etc., can't get a one day licence because he has no local address?

I'd be looking at the possibility of getting yourself a local 'address' and perhaps some local paperwork..   ::)

Why don't you move in with me and the family for a few weeks .... then you can use my address.

Its all to do with the insurance thing , your medicare does not cover us , however there is a underling agreement between NZ and OZ that we wont be left lying in the street should something happen to us Kiwis in Oz.
I am currently trying to get our insurance recognized by MA and their insurance company Aon , as we are well over the level required.
If that can happen the lovely lady events person at MA said she would help us.As compared to the Im going on holiday this is a hassle  f off attitude from MQ.
Lets hope common sense will prevail , they currently have my insurance info so all I can do now is wait!
Oh and I agree with bill , if you cant drink hard and race the next day go back to modern racing, VMX is for hard old men ;D

Thanks Tony and Simo  :) i think to go down that path we have left our run a bit late  ::) it would probably come on top on the day and the poor ole steward would have tell us we cant ride , i dont want to put anyone in that situation . I am seriously considering getting an Aussie address (albeit on paper ) and taking out a full MA licence  :)

We tried to do it all above board (first time in my life i think  ;D ) and its bitten us in the arse  ::)

I am more than happy to take out an MA licence  :) but i would sit at the gates of hell throwing my last 50 bucks into the fire before i give MNZ a cent  >:(

It will be a great event for sure  :) just not sure i could bear to watch from the side lines  :'(

jeez IT, it's ok to let TM come for a ride every now and then-but to let hime come for a "ferret" is going too far :D
It's all shit if you ask me-what good is MA anyway-just like ACU before them- an effin great bunch of beaureacrats (beerocats) on the gravy train. Shoot em all and let god sort em out I say.
The governing body should only take a small handling fee (stamp duty) for allocating the date and sanctioning the event.
The organising club should only charge for putting on the event and paying the land owner with all other proceeds to go back to the riders.
It should be up to the organiser/promoter to promote the event and gather earnings from the paying public that they entice through the gate.
It's been arse about here for years and it's time things changed.

I have looked into it and unearthed this memo from your govt  ;)

To all sports governing bodies
Due to Australias appauling performance at the London olympics it is official government policy that no foreign nationals be allowed to participate in state or national championships until further notice . We cannot risk more precious metals ( or paper certificates ) leaving the country until we are back on our A game .
I trust that your governing bodies will have in their constitutions hidden clauses and underhanded restrictions to action this policy .

We have over 70 riders and a good number of Championship classes due to over 10 entries per class. Well done to the tricycles having 10 entered. I tried riding that bloody DR500 side car and it tried to kill me so good luck with those things they handle like shopping trolleys. They have a mind of their own and my son wanted to get off because he said I was to lazy to ride with. I was exausted afterwards and my arms had forearm pumpup more than I have had for any solo bike ride. I now have alot more respect for the sidecar boys, maybe I'd be a better passenger than a rider but I won't find out in a hurry.
Looking forward to great weekend and can't wait to see if the mighty XL100 gets lapped in the Pre75 125 race.

Hi Al glad to hear Julia is having a go :)

To get there you head to Peak Crossing, turn right at the hotel,  into Peak crossing warril View Rd, then continue for about 4km up the road, on the left you will see Old Warwick Rd, take first left into Faulkner Quarry Rd, continue up the road for maybe 500 meters and on the right will be Greg's property, If Im wrong Im sure someone will correct me :) :)

how bloody good was that!
all muscles aching today but very worth it.
2 days of racing and not one ambo incident or injury that i'm aware of.
parts of the track were brilliant and the other bits were typical Ozzie soil.
once again, a big thank you to all that made it happen.
if your ever thinking of a good event to attend in SEQ, you missed a good one.
5 steaming hot showers,
bonfire,
more food than we could ever ask for,
great track both old bike and evo friendly,
etc etc...

It was dissappointing to hear that riders were kept awake at such a late hour, the band finished at a reasonable time and that was when it all should of finished. But apart from that it was a damm good weekend. Greg..what a fantastic job, that set up was just the best, the time you and your friends had put into this event was mind blowing, also a huge thanks to your wonderful wife and her friends who worked all day in the kitchen to make sure we all had enough side dishes to complement the pork, thanks to the gentlemen who were involved with everything that had to be done from beginning to end with the little piggie, the band, the fire brigade, and to everybody that was involved with this weekend THANKYOU!! Pics of both Sat and Sunday are now up on my website.

Keep Smiling :)

Sounds like we missed a blinder  >:( but its great it all went well and the event was a sucsess  :)

As far as partying goes IMHO its all part of the gig  ::) pretty much every event i camp at (even CDs FFS ) theres somone who has to have a whinge about people partying to late . Get over yourselves  ::) its Vintage MX  ;) generally a bunch of old people having a good time and riding old bikes . Some people take the whole thing far to seriously  ::) If we were any good we would have been good 30 yrs ago  ;) ironicly i usually find the party whingers are the event wobblers anyway  ;) those who would struggle to podium if there was only two in a race  :-*

For me partying is a big part of VMX  ;) At the end of the day theres a band the piss is flowing and the partys well under way  ;D then oh the bands stopped lets all go to bed like good boys and girls  >:( thats not how i or many others roll  >:(the nails will be going in the box soon enough and i intend to enjoy every moment while im still here  ;) Heres a tip for all the really serious racers out there , dont camp  :o go get a nice quiet motel where you can have your cocoa and plan your race stratergy in peace  ;) away from all those heathens  ;D

It is a pity that it has to be MA sanctioned as I am aware of a few more that would have turned up if day licenses were allowed.
Great event and a BIG cheer for Greg and Co. for putting on what is becoming an icon of a circuit.

Sidecar teams had a ball as usual with 9 on the grid and a couple of newbies to boot.
Best on ground must go to young Sean Fox as he partnered Dave Mattock at very high speed on the EML Yamaha. Second overall at his first crack at a title must have him cheering but he deserves all accolades as he put in a huge effort.

I agree with you 100% EML. Shaun swung like a champion and I felt completely confident. Thanks Shaun for allowing me to ride at that level. Got to be the ride of the weekend. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thanks to Greg for one of the best and safest venues in QLD. Also thanks to the volunteers for making the event possible.

Great to see you back in the saddle Popeye, however your choice of the old boy was a bit of a shock. He was a great passenger in the day but like me is lacking practice and fitness. Still, he did a great job.
Young Shawn (sidecar Shawn) did a very good job and is one to be watched in the future-will be another great passenger if he sticks to it.
Sidecarcross in Qld is certainly on the up with plenty of new crews and outfits coming on stream-well done to all concerned.
