« on: February 16, 2011, 09:41:01 PM »
Anyone got a copy of ( Classic Motorcycle Magazine Jan 1984) that they would be prepared to part with.  Can't find one on ebay here or in the UK .  Thought I had it but when it turned up it was Classic Bike (right date wrong mag).

« on: January 25, 2011, 10:47:12 PM »
Just picked up my like new 1963 Cotton Cougar 250cc.  This is one cool looking bike,  I have always liked the look of them and I think this is as tidy as you would ever find and at a reasonable price.

Tech Talk / Vinyl Repair
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:59:24 PM »
Any of you blokes ever use one of those leather / vinyl repair kits on a seat repair.  I could get a new cover but it only has a small tear and it is the original cover so I would prefer to keep it but only if this stuff works.

Tech Talk / Evapo-Rust
« on: December 12, 2010, 08:23:49 PM »
Has anyone used a product called Evapo-Rust.  It's used to soak rusty items to remove the rust fast,  light rust about 8 to 10 mins  and badly rusted bits 8 to 9 hours.  Sounds a lot better the weeks in a molasses bath (if it works) its priced at about $30 for 5 ltrs the supplier is in Qld so there might be postage on that if there is no outlet closer to home.

Just watching a program on the speed channel (505) foxtel.  This one is about the isle of man from the 1920s and later bike and sidecars.   Great tv.  Next episode in the series starts at 8.30.

Husqvarna / Finally finished and open to offers
« on: December 08, 2010, 11:49:08 AM »
Husqvarna 430 (1983) running and in excellent condition.  Motor runs strong and is a easy starter, tank is in really good nick and has been repainted and has a new fuel tap and new decals,  plastics have some damage but still look ok and they have new decals as well,  new chain fitted and also a  new air filter and new grips and new rear guard,  the seat is in very good condition and the shocks are also good,  the rims have been painted some time back but they still look ok.
And now it's time for it to find a new home, (so i'm open to offers).  There are photos on my page and in the photo section.

Tech Talk / Starting rollers
« on: November 13, 2010, 04:04:32 PM »
I want to build myself a set of starter rollers. I have a car starter motor and I can machine the rolls and weld up a frame for them.  What I need is some sort of a drawing showing how the starter motor is connected to the drive roll (be it sprocket and chain) (gear to gear) or direct coupling I don't really care, as long as it works.  So if anyone has made a set I would appreciate any info that you can share.

CZ / Early CZ hubs
« on: October 21, 2010, 06:29:04 PM »
Some info needed on CZ hubs (60s)
1. Did any have black hubs?
2. What colour gold is it?
3. Were they powder coated or is it a cadmium type coating?
4. If so can I have it done locally? ( by that I mean Sydney, Newcastle etc)

  Any help appreciated.

CZ / How to id the exact year of maufacture of 1960s 250 cz motorcrosser
« on: October 09, 2010, 02:26:35 PM »
Purchased today a 1960 something cz 250 side piper, and I would like to know if I can identify exact year of manufacture using the frame and engine number and if so where do I look.   It looks to be correct and in good condition but I will need this info before I start any rebuild.
p.s.   Some photos would also be nice

General Discussion / Ebay UK
« on: October 03, 2010, 08:30:18 PM »
I purchased 12 issues of a pommy magazine at a good price off (ebay UK) and then the d/head seller told me the postage would be 44 pound,  a bit over the top I thought when the last time I bought magazines from England they cost me 9 pound postage for 7 and they arrived 14 days later.  When I told this wanker this he agreed to see if he could get a better price, he then sent me a quote for 14 pound which was about what I expected to pay.  The problem now is it's been almost 3 months  and they still haven't turned up, it seems this #@*:ing arsehole has sent them surface mail  and I think that they must be rowing the bloody boat.  And the worst part of the whole deal is now it's probably to late to leave negative feedback, but it;s a good lesson learned and hopefully one that won't be repeated.

Husqvarna / Husqvarna plastics
« on: August 29, 2010, 02:46:26 PM »
Any ideas about where to buy rear guard and front number plate for a 1983 husky 430 at the best price locally.
Postage from US is a killer on larger parts and plastics.

General Discussion / The Classic Motorcycle magazine 1985
« on: July 27, 2010, 05:22:24 PM »
I am trying to track down a letter to the editor published in The Classic Motorcycle magazine I think in an issue from early 1985 Jan,Feb,Mar or maybe april regarding problems I was having with the Dot motorcycle factory in England (not sending parts).   The editor Bob Currie gave the Dot factory a serve in the same issue about my problem and my parts turned up shortly after.  I'm puting together a history of this bike and need to find out which issue the article is in so I can purchase a copy for myself and put it with my other info.  I ordered the parts in early 1984 and I have all 12 magazines from that year and its not in any of them so I know it must be in early 1985.
If anyone has copies of these issues for sale or is able to have a look and let me know which month it is in I will order a copy from the UK.
The article was signed Zane Currie. Australia.

p.s. A story about this bike will be in the next issue of VMX magazine No43 or No44.

Honda / Honda TL125cc
« on: April 14, 2010, 06:49:21 PM »
Hi fellas I have just acquired my first honda since selling my honda dream 250 sports in the early 1970's.   It appears to be a 1974 model TL125 trials, its a bit rough the tank has dents, the seat is torn, and the front forks are pitted but it is about 36 years old and its almost complete (missing the cover from the front chain sprocket).  If anyone has an idea of what it might be worth can you let me know before I spend any money on it.
