General Discussion / VMX Mag
« on: September 16, 2023, 06:15:42 PM »
I have been trying to contact VMX Magazine, I have tried all of the advertised phone numbers etc, anyone have a number that might work?
My neanderthal postman folded my last VMX Mag delivery in half (top to bottom) creasing the spine, so he could push it though the opening for letters, even though there is a parcel compartment in the top of the same box, all clearly marked.
One branch higher we wouldn't have him.

          Thanks Zane

General Discussion / Who's smarter
« on: November 10, 2020, 06:50:21 PM »
If you think you are smarter than the previous generation... 50 years ago the owners manual of a car showed you how to adjust the valves.   Today it warns you not to drink the contents of the battery.

General Discussion / Vale Dave Morris
« on: August 10, 2020, 02:27:50 PM »
Saw this on my facebook page today. Sad news, Dave was one o the really good blokes, and a wealth of information on Jawa/CZ or just to have a talk to.

On Thursday 6th August David John Morris sadly passed away.
Whether you knew him as David, TC or Top Cat we will all remember his smile and contagious laugh.
A service will be held on Thursday 13th August at 2pm.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 government restrictions, numbers will be capped at 100 attendees, 24 in the chapel which will be prioritised for the family and close friends of David.
For those who are not be able to attend, below is a link to live stream the service. Live streaming starts at 1:55pm but the link will be active for 12months thereafter.

If you wish to share your memories of TC, we’d love to see your photos or hear your favourite stories of his life in the comments.

General Discussion / ozlotto
« on: June 15, 2020, 02:23:52 PM »
This has nothing to do with bikes, although I might buy a few more it I win.
The problem is I'm not getting to the newsagents much these days, and I wonder if anyone on here actually puts ozlotto on via the internet ( online ) and what agency do you use.  Some of them can be a bit hard to get your winnings from if you do happen to pick the right numbers, they want you to leave it with them, and then use it to buy more tickets.  There has to be a site online for the agency that sells them through the news agent, and where you can either collect smaller winning from them or from the news agency if you happen to be near one,
   Cheers Zane
p.s. I'm not hooked on buying lotto tickets, but I do from time to time.

General Discussion / AJS and BSA
« on: June 03, 2020, 06:25:21 PM »
A mate of mine called in today. He has asked me what I thought a 1951 AJS  500 single motor and a 1930 BSA frame might be worth.  I have no idea so I told him I would put it on here and maybe the brains trust will be able to give me some idea.  I dont know the condition, so maybe a couple of prices , good/fair
  Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Buying Australian
« on: May 29, 2020, 07:03:40 PM »
i ordered bearings from a seller on ebay thinking they had Australian stock, my fault I only half read the ad.  So I thought i'll buy more to get this job done, from another supplier in Sydney, that i know has stock here on the shelf.  I placed the order on 20th May the delivery was between 23rd and 27th May. When it had not arrived in that time I contacted the carrier (Fastway) with the tracking number and they told me that the item had not been picked up yet by them. I contacted the seller and they told me that the parcel had left their store on 21st May and was with the carrier.  By now i'm getting a bit pissed off so I contacted Fastway again, this time the bloke on the phone told me that fastway had not yet been informed by the facilitating company that the seller was using. He told me that this company holds heap of orders from many sellers in their warehouse and when they get a big enough quantity of parcels going in this case to the Newcastle dept, they then call the carrier to pick them up. He said that he would be surprised if it turned up within the next week more likely it will be 2 weeks.  If this is the case, then it could be more than 3 weeks to get a hand full of bearings from Sydney to Cessnock.  The bearings from China will probably arrive first. Anyway looks like bad feed back ahead for this arsehole seller.

General Discussion / Pay rises
« on: April 17, 2020, 01:58:32 PM »
I think we (pensioners) just received a pay rise. $2.90 a fortnight for a couple, can't wait for the lock down to finish so we can get out and spend it.  It was good to see that the politicians have delayed their increases for 6 months to show use what good people they are. BUT they didn't tell us what these increases are.
On last years rates a minister on $365,000 a year was eligible for over $7000 a year which increase, are they worth it? NO
A pensioner couple earn around $40,000 a year But that's for 2 of us that's around $75 a year, are we worth it? the polies  would probably say NO.

General Discussion / Fuel card
« on: February 06, 2020, 10:10:21 PM »
This might be of interest to old age pensioners on here. The NSW Gov has just issued a new travel card.  It allows users to send up to $250 on fuel or any other transport, like maybe taxis, buses, trains etc.  The card is free to all NSW pensioners depending on your location (inner city residents may miss out) but it is worth a trip to the RTA to find out.  Most couples are entitled to a card each a total of $500.  I had to give the RTA my mothers maiden name and also my licence for ID, card comes in a few weeks and we have 14 months to send it.  It will also be issued again next year.

General Discussion / Donations
« on: January 23, 2020, 03:28:22 PM »
Most Aussies seem to be slow learners.  My wife and myself made, for us, a reasonable size donation to the Red Cross when we had the really bad floods a few years back, even after remembering that the Red Cross had not given out all of the millions given to them after Cyclone Tracy, instead squirreling it away for the future.
Alas the same thing happened with the flood donations, only by a much greater amount. We thought the money we gave to the Red Cross, would be used to help the victims of the floods, it wasn't!   This time I didn't donate, because I thought they will probably do the same thing again.  Money given to help the poor bastards who in many cases have lost every thing they owned.  Well surprise, they have, but this time it's far more outrages. They have, to date received more than (90 million dollars) in donations and only plan on spending less than a third of that (thirty million dollars), keeping the balance for other projects.
Even worse than that, they are not the only ones doing it.  On the radio today there is a protest against others as well, including The Smith Family and The Salvos.  Don't these charities know that when (rightly or wrongly) donations are made for a specific thing they should be spent on that, not just put in the bank for future use.   I know that I am pissed off about it and by the sounds of it so are many others.  I suppose we will see when we have the next disaster, will we remember or not.

where did it come from?
Why is it in a bucket?
