What ever happened to event promotions?
« on: March 11, 2018, 09:55:59 AM »
Doesn't seem to be much info around for events of late.
The OZVMX resto is happening at the moment but I cant find any threads about it on here apart from 'tickets for sale' from last year.
I keep hearing that everyone has moved to Facebook but looking at the OZVMX Facebook page isn't very inspiring, the whole discussion page seems to be about people selling stuff, hardly any decent conversations are taking place that I can see.

Apparently we had the Mr VMX round at Broadford recently, another best kept secret, an event in my own backyard that I knew nothing of...
..guess I will go crawl back under my rock!

I thought the same , GMC . Industry figures show a decline of 10 % in new sales last year . I guess that can be seen as some sort of indicator with subsequent flow on into different areas . Money is getting tighter  , or more to the point , worth a lot less > less buying power . We had a lot of growth over the last years  and should be thankful for those good years we had . Rates , Electricity , Gas , Health , and other overheads are rising by the month . Unless you are a public servant with a self adjusting salary , things are getting tighter. Interesting to see what happens when the interest rates are rising by the end of the year ....I guess that will all reflect on events and hobbies .
VMX shocks , We don't just sell them - I design and produce them individually for you since 1989.

Don't know about motocross  , but   word is out there for  vintage enduro events.

Either they don't believe this place is worth the effort or they just don't care. Shame they don't take into account the amount of visit this place gets.

They pushed Mr VMX pretty hard on Facebook and Instagram, but I agree not much activity on here for that one.

All host clubs care about numbers Mick, you know that.
How many participants are actually left on this forum? FaceSook is where they target their entrants.

Allan put up a post for Mountain Man and only got one response. Col put up the Dirt track Nats and so far not one response. So what club would bother with this forum?

Mountain Man would have to be the best organised facility in the country with also the best MX track bar none. It is specifically prepared for vintage on the Saturday and ripped for the moderns on Sunday. Was a real shame after hearing of 60+ Evo class bikes regularly attending meets in Queensland to find only eight turn up, including two from us. I would have thought that with  QVMX adopting the Evo class as per the MoMS this year that 100 would have showed up. Hopefully this improves with the inclusion of Evo at the Ararat Classic Nats this year which we are going to

They don’t think that at all. They know there are no participants on the forum.

I still prefer this forum for any questions I have . I find I just get angry at the answers I get on Facebook . Suppose I'm just an old cranky bugger . I know some of the others have moved over but the younger ones answers are just mind numbingly stupid .

I persist with this forum as unless you pin it on facebook the information disappears under an avalanche of trivia in a matter of hours
. The drawback here is no photos anymore.

A bit cynical Ted. The lack of photos is a better reason.
