Vinduro / Re: VTR Vinduro July 2nd and 3rd at Copeton Vinduro
« on: July 20, 2022, 07:51:28 AM »
thanks Tex

I read a lot of Forum reads complying about No Photo and when you go to the trouble of Posting them you hear nothing ..

that maybe why No one post Photo ...

This may be my Last time too

Thanks again ..

That would be sad, as although I don't post much, I do enjoy seeing the old machines that turn up at the various NSW Vinduros via your posts.
I see that the Youtube videos have 250+ views on them too, so it isn't just me who looks at the posts!

How did you do it?

Unfortunately, the file isn't physically uploaded here.
It's just a linked image, hosted elsewhere. Click the image icon and paste in the URL of the image you want to show.
Not perfect, but at least it does mean something can be shown...

Looks like it is from a YZ250 - possibly after 2008 due to the extra length that was put on those models to bring it in line with the US range.

I'd imagine an '83 TT600 is the same as the YZ/IT.

If so, my manual says the dot goes to the front of the bike, tightening the front bolts first, then the rear ones to a torque of 23Nm.

Honda / Re: 82 xr500 front forks spongy
« on: March 16, 2020, 08:48:24 PM »
The official Honda manual for my '82 XR200R says to run 30kPa (4.3 PSI) of air in each fork. From memory, the XR500 ran something similar.

Make sure the seals are in good condition though, or you will just be wasting your time with trying air as a preloader.

Tech Talk / Re: Ohlins nitrogen needle, buy from pharmacy?

Yes it should. Another option is to visit a vet clinic.
Take the old one along for comparison as it is a fairly narrow needle.

Vinduro / Re: VERi Yarram Vinduro - 1 July 2018

Hoping to make it to this one :)

Is the sign-on/start point at the MX track grounds, or elsewhere?

Are there entry forms available online that we can 'pre-fill' to save time and congestion on the day?

Is my 'other half' allow to bring her dog along (on a leash of course)?

Cheers,
Peter

Vinduro / Re: Hopetoun GP cancelled?
« on: August 10, 2017, 12:17:02 PM »
Thanks for the update - very sad to hear though.

I was hoping that the later date might have been enough to encourage more entries.

The dunes being fenced off would be a huge blow too - that section was a highlight of the event, and very entertaining!

Guess I'd better cancel my booking at the campground...

Vinduro / Hopetoun GP cancelled?
« on: August 04, 2017, 08:41:07 PM »
Just checked on the Veri website, and was surprised to see a note about the Hopetoun GP being cancelled this year.

Very disappointed - this event is great fun, and I was looking forward to blasting around in the sand again.

Does anyone know what's happened to cause the cancellation, and will it return next year?

Tech Talk / Re: Open pipe on a 4 stroke ?
« on: April 01, 2017, 04:33:47 PM »
An old method was to paint the pipe and were the paint stopped burning was close to tuned length.

I was told by a pretty competent tuner back in the 80's that it was 'look for the heat ring', then 'cut 1 inch beyond that' for the perfect tuned length. Stainless pipes worked well, as the was a very obvious blue/yellow ring where the exhaust gases collected.

Vinduro / Castella Vinduro - still happening?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the Castella Vinduro is still going ahead. Haven't seen any reference to it lately...

You would probably be better off replacing them with some OEM or aftermarket ones off ebay. No need to worry about potential leaks that way.
I replaced mine a few years back and have not had any issues since.
